Fantastic hotel - would highly recommend and would certainly visit again.
The room was fantastic - one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in (certainly rivals the water villa we stayed at in the Maldives). The set course menu was amazing (disappointed not to see a lobster on it, but suspect the menu rotates). Good range of complementary activities included in the rate. Although a room check out time of 10am, we could use the facilities, and eat/drink until we left for our flight (early evening) at no extra charge. Staff were very friendly, particular shout out to Isaak (cocktail bar) and Mtawa (pool bar).
Set menu dinner was only available on alternate nights, would have been nice to see both this and the buffet restaurants available every night. Would have been nice to see a wider range of complementary drinks I. the room considering the room rate.

Do not waste your money here
The dinner was well prepared.
We arrived (Booked for 4 nights )with very high expectations considering Barazas price of almost USD1000 per night. Unfortunately it was an extremely disappointing experience and we had to check out and leave to a better resort after the first night. The property is touted as the most luxurious place on the island with many good reviews and this is quite far from the truth. Prior to this stay we stayed at ZURI resort for 4 nights and that is really light years ahead of Baraza. We then went to RIU Palace as it was the only place available and it was amazing. Baraza could learn a lot about hospitality from these two places. Here are a few (Not all) of our concerns: 1. The beach is not amenable to swimming at all and the hotel should be more forthright about this. 2. We were in Villa 7 with two sun loungers outside our villa. We were told that they were the only two we were allowed to use and staff will help us with drinks / towels etc. We waited here for an hour and nobody arrived to take any drinks orders or assist us in any way. The actual pool and bar facility is about 200m away. 3. Most of the staff (Not all) were sullen and appeared unhappy. 4. The watersports area / facility is rudimentary in comparison to their competitors 5. The entire place is dated. It was probably revamped 20 years ago and nothing has been updated. The shower was broken. Locking our villa required a key that had a large (really large) wooden key tag that is really inconvenient to carry around on a 5 star all inclusive beach holiday. 6. I immediately went to management to politely inform them that I would be leaving and would like a refund even if it was partial. They have refused. I have asked booking.com to assist with this and they still refuse. If any one from the hotel is reading this review, it would be nice to talk to the owners about everything if you can put me in touch. Taking over R50000 for services not rendered is certainly not good practice.
