Superb

These questions are things we couldn't know. Compared to other parts of zanibar I appreciated the protection from solicitors, but I hope the hotel does something ANYTHING to help them. The money for security could go to real economic empowerment

My stay at The Palms was a splurge that far exceeded my expectations and was worth every penny spen

I was so torn about which hotel/resort to select for my 4-nights stay in Zanzibar, there we so many to choose from. Traveling solo, I took a chance on The Palms. I have never been more pleased. It's an intimate seating and the villas feel like "home". A luxury experience, with the traditional African decor and feel. The villas are huge. I visited at the start of the rainy season and the resort was only 35% occupied. But I loved the personalized attention, and the kindness of the staff is unlike anything I've ever experience. The food was as good (or better) than any restaurant there. I could go on and on, but I'll summarize by saying... whether a couple or single, you will NOT be disappointed if you chose to stay at The Palms. p.s. Another plus was that I could visit any of the other hotels in the Zanzibar Hotel Collection. So I did a spa treatment at Baraza, had dinner with friends at Zawaldi and shopped for gifts at the gift shop in Breezes. AN AMAZING STAY!!!

I loved everything about my stay. However, if there was one thing I would change, it's that I could not set the air conditioner below a certain temp. The temp was definitely cool enough, but sometimes after a hot shower, I like it "freezing". :-)

I regret in staying in this hotel and paying fortune for nothing.

the service was toooooooo bad and slooooooow, they serve the food in (installment method), and no variety of options of food. I paid for nothing. there were no pool in the villa as description and there is no privacy. also I took ocean view villa but they give me bar view or garden view.

Exceeded our expectations and highly recommended

With only 14 guests maximum the hotel is very intimate. The staff are very professional but friendly and never intrusive. Attention to detail can be seen everywhere. The standard of cuisine is first rate, varied, inventive and beautifully presented. The all inclusive package is generous so although expensive our stay was value for money.

If you are looking for an oasis of luxury. This is it.

There aren't enough words to describe how amazing this property is, from the moment we left the highway a magical holiday began. The staff, Jackson in particular, are the most genuine, friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. The room is itself, is a pretty decent size bungalow, is rustic but everything is where you want it, and works perfectly.

This was a wonderful stay in general. The staff at The Palms are fantastic, the property is small, quiet and private. The villas are beautiful, spacious and well maintained. Food was very good indeed, we were brilliantly well fed throughout & there was a nice variety of dishes produced to a very high standard. Thank you to chef William & the team for this! The sundowners, which I've seen referenced in other reviews, were excellent as well. Every day the bar staff seek you out and bring cocktails & a snack - the cocktails were always superb. We also made use of the facilities in the neighbouring sister properties, including the gym, massage service & water sports centre (a particular thank you to Hasan for taking us on a great snorkelling trip on one of the mornings, which I would highly recommend to any visiting guests.)

There isn't really much to say on the down side. Perhaps just in our case, because we travelled during COVID times and the resorts were quiet & therefore a bit less staffed, at times there was no one manning the bar so you had to seek out service. This really wasn't a big issue for us though, if we did ever want anything it didn't take long to get someone's attention. It wouldn't stop me rating this place 10/10.

Exceptionally enjoyable, perfect for relaxation

All meals were 4-5 course, being hungry was not even an option there. Very enjoyable. I loved the fact they served sundowners in the evening. Rooms were so comfortable and the proximity to the bar and drinks is enjoyable. little to no stress at all. They are very accommodating to requests (being served lunch or dinner in a cabana overlooking the beach) and the drinks are all made with care and delicious. It is very quiet and relaxing no kids etc to worry about. Palms is inbetween Breezes and Baraza. Staying at palms allows access to both of them but they can not access the palms which is great. Having a cabana dedicated to your villa is also amazing, you dont have to compete for beach space with anyone like you would at other resorts/hotels.

Wifi can be a bit spotty. that is the only complaint i had.

CRIMINAL EXTORTION, SERVING ALLERGIC FOOD, ZERO CONSIDERATION FOR THE GUEST.

CRIMINAL EXTORTION Falsely advertising the room to be a villa, when it wasn't, 5 star, when it wasn't. no kitchen, no living room, only a bedroom with a tiny second bedroom attached that had no lock or bolt on the door meaning we had to use a suitcase to keep it closed, no privacy for two adult couples. booking.com shows "suitable for 4 adults" When it rained, the bedroom, because it cannot be called a villa, leaked behind my bed. they also lie about the room size, which is definitely not 150sqm. this was a 70 sqm room, part of which was the veranda outside. only facility is a 6m long pool. it relies on its neighbour hotels. asked eating requirements on check-in, only to serve shellfish to the only person with allergies in our group. had we not noticed, she could have been hospitalised or worse. at this point they tried to bribe me with a bottle of sparkling wine. The manager Siriak then told us we would be charged an additional 42% of the room charge for each additional person when the place is already a two bedroom "villa". he initially lied and stated that this was the going rate in Tanzania and when confronted on that he back peddled to state that it was in fact the hotel policy. having pre paid, he held us ransom and acted like he was doing us a favour by charging us the additional $2500 and then not accomodating us when the hotel was empty. he wanted to charge us an addtional $600 to give us separate rooms. so for over $6000 dollars for 3 nights stay. I have stayed in some of the most expensive hotels in the world and never been charged so much for so little. I was expecting magic but got robbed. wanting to leave, the hotel was not willing to discuss a refund and blamed everything on booking.com and asked me to get a refund/compensation from booking, so I am waiting for justice from Booking.com! With the Palms committing daylight robbery, had I stayed anywhere else in the island my trip would have been perfect.

Like a dream

Pampered in luxury from the moment you walk in till the moment you leave. The rustic style private villas are very spacious with very high quality interiors and furnishings and with all the amenities you need. The service was probably the best I've ever experienced with the staff ready to get you whatever your heart desires. We were lucky enough to have the whole hotel to ourselves which made it a once in a lifetime experience, being treated like a Sultan in his palace. The food prepared by Chef William was heavenly and best of all you can have your meals wherever you want. We ate at the beach, at the pool and at the restaurant and all were equally amazing. And of course the beach was just perfect like out of a postcard with each villa having it's own private beach cabana with a daybed and loungers. A special thanks to Siriak the manager who made sure our stay was perfect.

One of the most beautiful places from Zanzibar. The villa was huge and I mostly liked that is so intimate and quiet. I will definitely come back here! I enjoyed every moment on my stay here and it definitely worths the money! This was paradise on Earth!

The place is perfect was a romantic getaway for couples. Despite the weather overcast, the team quickly arranged for a dinner to celebrate our first year marriage anniversary at the beach.
