Novotel Shanghai Clover

This hotel completely exceeded our expectations. We booked 3 nights and enjoyed it very much. It offers so much in terms of value for money. Our room was on the small side for 2 adults and 1 child with big luggage, but the king bed was huge and very comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful with a good mix of asian and western options, although we much preferred the Asian. We ordered food to our room which took a while, but it was hot and delicious. The location is good too. There are 2 convenience stores right on the doorstep of the hotel, or you can order everything to be delivered to the hotel lobby. The first mini bar is free every day and there is water, beer, and soft drinks to choose from. The kids play area was really nice, and we took advantage of the free shuttle to Disney and the airport. Before going to Disney, I recommend checking the opening times of the little boutique offering dress-up and make-up options in the hotel lobby first, which might save you a penny later at the resort. You can also rent a stroller at the hotel, which we did for the day, and saved time by not queuing for one at the resort. The reception staff were wonderful and incredibly helpful, and the lady at the desk by the restaurant was also friendly and helpful. The hotel offers a laundry room in the basement where you can wash and dry your clothes for a very small fee and all the machines work well. My daughter had her 5th birthday on one of the days and we had a lovely little birthday surprise in our room for her upon arrival. We used the outdoor pool, which isn't huge, but it's nice to have a little swim and relax when it's hot out. Overall we had a fantastic stay and I cannot fault a thing. If you're looking for a no-frills value-for-money family stay, then this is the place.

I had a massage on one of the days, and I have to mention that the spa isn't a spa at all, but a small treatment room off the lobby area, which means you can hear everything going on in the lobby during the treatment. There was also a concerning amount of mould on the ceiling of that room. I didn't find the cashier lady or her male colleague working there particularly friendly, but my massage was very good and the price was great. The room and bathroom felt a bit old.

Really good location for Disneyland. One stop on the metro or you can use the free shuttle bus which was really handy. The rooms were q good size, very comfortable and clean so overall it was great value for us. We also liked that there are shops and eating facilities within the compound which was very helpful after a long day at Disney.

The room was large, the bathroom was high quality, the breakfast was of excellent quality, the restaurant was open late and though a bit expensive the food was great. It's location could not have been better.

Everything was perfect up to the point of leaving. We had organised a taxi to take us to the airport due to a very early departure, but it was like the job was given to somebody's relative at a cost of double what a real taxi would charge. His vehicle was dirty and reeked of cigarette smoke.
