Pension Jeske Heidelberg

Pension Jeske is a quaint, charming guest house in Heidelberg Altstadt, very close to the steep, winding path up to the castle, and the many restaurants and bars, though on a quiet street away from the tourist noise. The guest house is tastefully, artistically and imaginatively decorated. It is quiet (apart, perhaps, from the noisy, amorous pigeons), clean, and comfortable. Some rooms have their own bathrooms. You can work out which ones from the descriptions when you book. There are kettles and fridges and some drinks refreshments (coffee, mugs, etc.) on the first and second floors and there is a small social space on the second floor. There is no lift, but there are some rooms on the ground floor. The steps from the 2nd to the 3rd floor are a bit tricky if you have large/heavy luggage or if you have mobility problems. There is no bathroom/toilet on the 3rd floor. There is free wifi. I have stayed here a few times and always enjoyed my stays, having no complaints. It is exceptionally good value for money. I have not found any comparable alternatives for a similar price in the Altstadt. In previous years I have found the electronic lock on the front door a bit tricky to operate, but this year it was easier. As far as I'm aware, there are no staff in residence at the guest house, and there is no reception desk. The owner of the guest house is very helpful if you need to contact her by phone. I hope Pension Jeske continues to have every success, and I'm already looking forward to my next stay.

The location was amazing and it was very clean.

There was no reception, so you can't just drop off your bags sadly, and the quality of the beds wasn't the best.

Very good value for the centre of Heidelberg old town

The location was excellent, right in the heart of Heidelberg Altstadt! While the building may feel a bit old-fashioned to some guests, it truly captures the authentic charm of living in Heidelberg. The check-in instructions were clear, and we had no issues accessing the building. Although we used a shared bathroom, it was clean and relatively well maintained.

The door in the room where we stayed (Room 6) did not close completely, which meant we could hear almost everything happening throughout the guesthouse, including conversations, footsteps, and people using the bathroom. In general, the soundproofing was quite poor, making it difficult to enjoy a quiet and restful night. Although signs reminding guests to keep quiet were posted throughout the property, some guests were not very respectful and made a great amount of noise. Unfortunately, there did not appear to be any staff present to address the situation or enforce the quiet hours...
