Comfortable and inviting with very helpful, friendly & efficient staff.

A tasty and well delivered breakfast was enjoyed by all in our party. The location is safe and secure in a secure area.

Bar choices were limited with very few choices to choose from. However, our host made every effort to accommodate us.

Comfortable and cute guesthouse

Comfortable and low key. Pool was nice, staff were attentive, and the location was great in a safe neighbourhood surrounded by embassies but not far from the beach. Room was stylish and bed was comfortable.

Would’ve liked additional toiletries in the bathroom. Would be nice if there were an after-hours contact number. Really would’ve liked an in-room safe for my computer.

Exceeded expectations and a very spacious room. Cleanliness was excellent and staff very attentive

Breakfast was superb. Staff very helpful.

You can’t make you own cup of coffee in your room. You have to wait and ask the staff every time for coffee, day or night. Maybe a kettle and a couple of sachets of coffee in the room could solve this.

Some rooms much better than others

We stayed at JG twice: for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip and one night at the end. Positives: helpful transfer from airport (with a fab taxi driver who we used multiple times thereafter), great breakfast, lovely pool and lounge area, great room the first time round (by the pool, lots of space). Kitchen staff were lovely and very friendly. They were flexible about keeping our bags for us when we went away and Yvonne was super helpful in organising a massage for my partner. They were also understanding with our early arrival and letting us have breakfast straight off the plane.

Our second stay was not great: the room was a suite (ergo more expensive) but was right by reception, with a private terrace facing the front drive/car park. It was dimly lit, next to a hamster cage (cute, but not right by a bedroom), with mildew on the ceiling and squashed mosquitoes in the shower that hadn’t been cleaned off. On both stays, it felt like we were inconveniencing reception staff sometimes, and the service felt a bit cold compared to other places we stayed at in Mozambique. When we arrived back they acted as if they’d never met us before, and it felt a shame to have that on our last night. When booking, I’d recommend a poolside room. Don’t book the suite, it’s a waste of money.

Very nice and well designed guesthouse. Excellent taste in choice of materials.

Check in much too slow. Better let the guests give their passports on arrival and let the receptionist fill in the forms.

Good place to stay

Breakfast was good! Service good, staff very kind and helpful.

I missed a small fridge in the room, and also a facility to make a cup of coffee or tea.

The place is quiet and very intimate. Rooms are very spacious. Staff is very friendly and helpful

The guest house offers a Tea break but you have to pay for the teabags or coffee. The available ones are flavored. Not much options for breakfast.

Mixed feelings

-good location, close to a lot of restaurants -room was clean and spacious -my parents enjoyed the breakfast

-wifi in the upstairs room was very unstable -our bathroom plug was leaking after it rained -there was some confusion with whether breakfast was included in our rooms or not. The first day they confirmed breakfast is included, then the next morning, I was told after my parents had breakfast, that we’ll need to pay. This caused some frustration already but we agreed we’ll wait for booking.com to give clarity and we’ll pay so long. However, I realized after I got home that I was charged 900MT instead of 750MT as per our booking.com reservation. The whole breakfast incident just left a sour taste about Joli.

Very beautiful house with comfortable modern rooms. Lovely staff very friendly and helpful.

The insulation between rooms is not great. You basically hear everything that happen in the house. Thankfully at night it is very quiet.

Nice surprise for a first visit to Maputo; quiet and safe location, good facilities and staff.

I was attending a science meeting at the nearby University. The location was perfect for this, but also for numerous nearby restaurants. The staff were very helpful on all matters, and secured taxis and tuktuks that quickly and cheaply allowed us to get into central Maputo or to the airport. The room was spotless and we liked that it was immediately adjacent to the pool. The location was also very quiet and safe. The decor throughout the guest house was very pleasant, and the breakfasts were excellent. We will be returning to Maputo in coming years, and will stay again. We would recommend it to anyone.

The staff are wonderful! Very accommodating and friendly. Making it a very pleasant stay!

The rooms could have a few more soft furnishings like a comfy chair or couch at the end of the bed

Like staying with friends

The staff were so helpful: sorting out extra coffee, letting us stay around the pool while we waited for our flight after we had checked out, calling for taxis, even lending us 12 meticais when we ran short because the taxi driver had no change. Most of all they were sociable, taking time to chat in English as well as Portuguese. It rates as the best place we have stayed in Maputo (out of half a dozen), the downside is we are unlikely to be returning to use it again but if we do return we wouldn’t go elsewhere.
