This place is magical- the only noise you hear are natural ones (the frogs at night were wonderful), and that peace of mind is deeply soothing.
Also, Dennis has the best starfruit I’ve ever had!

Perfect for our honeymoon, and the only place we want to stay when we visit again <3

I had a wonderful time at the dome cottage! Staying an hour south of Kona let me feel like I was being immersed in Hawaii, while also being a great location to make trips to Volcano or Kona. I enjoyed cooking dinner while watching the sunset on the ocean, and listening to the sounds of birds and frogs outside my windows. Truly a peaceful stay!

Effortless process from start to finish. Dennis, Jan, and Bernie (world's greatest good boy) made our first trip to Hawaii magical! Cottage is beautifully kept, well appointed, has everything you need. We enjoyed that the location was well away from busier areas. We loved getting in the car for a day of fun exploration and then returning to our quiet home for the night. The beds are SO comfy, too. The sunsets from the porch deck are simply gorgeous- a must see. We simply had the most wonderful time. Mahalo, Dennis, Jan, and Bernie!

This home was wonderful. It had everything that we needed and it was great to come back to after a long day out. The hosts provided a variety of fruits to try, which was very nice of them! Would definitely recommend if you want to stay off the grid!

It was wonderful. It’s just a little far from most areas to visit.

Nice cabin and so cool that it’s offgrid - you might not notice unless you’re looking or told.
Pretty unique layout and done up very well.
Would recommend if you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet!

Had a wonderful stay in this cottage. The home was well-equipped with everything that was needed for a comfortable stay. Waking up and enjoying the mornings here was my favorite and I was sad to say goodbye!

Peaceful, visually stunning, spacious, brought out a smile every time we returned to the cottage. Everything needed for preparing meals, including some spices and condiments. Everything worked, not the norm for many vacation rentals. Outdoor shower, with hot water!!, very nice when returning from the beach. Excellent beaches w/i short distances, also grocery stores and restaurants. Incredible!!

Accurate listing, great communication, property better than photos, enjoyed meeting and talking with the property owners. We will look for an opportunity to enjoy another stay.

We were totally amazed at the surroundings of this property. A mini farm with lots of fruit trees - and a perfect "getaway" for privacy, solitude and tropical splendor. The extra added attraction was the eruption of Mauna Loa on the day before we arrived! How exciting! I would definitely recommend this home for a peaceful, private vacation - but be prepared for a little distance from any major shopping areas. It was perfect for our needs - but for those who want to be "where the action is", you will be in for a surprise. Still, well worth the peaceful surroundings that we were hoping for.

This was a great place to stay. It was peaceful, clean, and had an ocean view! It was as advertised and wonderful to have morning coffee on the deck looking at the ocean. Space works very well for two people. Easy to contact Dennis and we also loved eating the shared fresh fruit and tomatoes grown there! We liked making toast the old fashioned way on stove top! All the nature sounds at night made us feel more connected to natural Hawaii. There are extras provided like coolers and beach items. Recommend this place for a unique and pleasant stay.

The property was beyond fantastic! I was looking for a few days of peace and tranquility, away from the concrete jungle of Oahu, and I found my new little slice of heaven. The cottage is wonderful, the neighborhood is so quiet and peaceful I didn't want to leave. Wonderful little place I can't recommend high enough. I will be going back.

Interesting geodesic dome incorporating solar power. All works seamlessly so you don’t really notice. Great location to explore south portion of island.

Just perfect place: had amenities I was looking for without going overboard. Cute place, very clean and the Sunsets were as expected: all great views. All kinds of birds singing and enjoying the area. Saw even a pair of Pheasants !!! Nights music was the best to let us know we were in the tropics. Our lullaby music were the happy Coqui's. Just what the doctor ordered. Loved our stayed.

Great place to unwind!
Love this cottage and property - slightly rustic with its solar power and composting toilet, but very comfortable with strong internet service for working remotely over VPN. Beautiful and peaceful, it's a bit of a drive to groceries, beaches, restaurants, and other sights, but much nicer for someone who wants privacy and a non-resort experience. Eat breakfast with geckos on the deck, go to sleep to chirping birds and frogs, and enjoy fresh fruit grown by the hosts. Will definitely be back if we can!

Amazing Stay on the Big Island
Great little cottage to get away from the busyness of more traveled areas in Hawaii. A bit of a drive from Kona but had everything you’d need to live comfortably for a while. Views were simply unmatched and he surrounding area was beautiful and full of lush greenery as well. Local coffee plantations serve local brews which was a real treat. Would recommend bringing/using bug spray since there were quite a few mosquitoes. But overall a very excellent place to stay! Mahalo.

Amazing home
This was such an interesting house with the dome! It was super clean, very well stocked and appointed with everything I needed and more, and the location was beautiful and private and styrene. It was exactly what I needed!

Loved the house and the folks that shared it with us! This house had everything you needed to enjoy your stay. Super comfy bed, great views, amazing sunsets, and dark peaceful nights to star gaze. Loved the the location which drops you between Kona and Hilo with coffee and groceries not far away. Absolutely recommend and will stay there again.

Amazing residence
Unique experience in a comfortable cottage with all amenities, yet while using solar energy and purified rain water. Beautiful sunsets, lush trees, chirping birds, and an assertive rooster. Plenty of nearby beaches and Hawaii Volcanoes national Park is only 80 minutes away. Hosts are friendly and attentive.

Overall things were very good at the property. It was quiet and quite comfortable. We both had to do some distanced work, and were originally worried about connectivity, but there were absolutely no problems with it. The owner also suggested a nearby, little used beach that ended up being better than the bigger public ones we visited, especially when about 2 dozen dolphins came and hung out!
The refridgerator is tiny, and since the property is a bit of way from stores that made shopping for an extended stay more of a challenge. Also, some of the reference materials on-site (especially about hiking) are very outdated.
But overall, I'd definitely recommend this property over a hotel!

This was a great find for the start of our three weeks Big Island vacation; spacious, remote quiet location, close to an idyllic empty beach, and with all of the comforts of home. The owners were very nice and helpful, the local fruits delicious. We stayed four nights during second week of March 2022.

We enjoyed our stay at this off the grid dome home that is great for the environment. We had all the amenities, including Netflix if you want to watch a show while you are there. The location is remote so if you are looking for night life this would not be the place. We are hikers so went to the black sand beach a few times. Explored Volcano National Park and greeen sand beach.

Off the Grid
We enjoyed our stay at the off the grid dome home. It was very comfortable and even had Netflix if you wanted to enjoy a show while there. We used the grill a couple times. The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 is the location. It is remote so may not be for everyone. We are hikers so we enjoyed the black sand beach, green sand beach, and Volcano National park that are within 1/2 to an hour drive from this location. If you are into night life or eating out this is not for you.

It was absolutely more than we expected. Quality of the newer home, cleanliness, environment, etc. Nothing felt as if was "off grid". If you want to get out & away from the tourists, no close neighbors, view the ocean from the deck, bedroom & kitchen, this is a terrfic place for it.

We had a lovely 3 nights in the “dome” near Miloli’i. The design of the place is unusual and interesting, and it was perfect for a couple’s getaway with a sort of studio vibe (but with plenty of space and some separation to the different areas). We cooked several full meals in the kitchen, enjoyed the lanai with the view (and some curious geckos!), and cracked a bunch of macadamia nuts the “Hawaiian way” (two stones!). They were delicious, and Dennis and his wife also brought us a box of fresh fruits from their various trees, which was very kind. The place is down a windy road toward Hawaii’s last fishing village (apparently), which feels very different than staying in Kona or another more touristy place. We did venture down the road through the village one morning to get to Honomalino Beach, which we’d recommend (we were the only ones there on a Monday morning).
The house’s composting toilet was a new experience for us but totally fine; hardly different from normal. Only complaint about the whole stay was that the shower water alternated between hot and cold randomly at times, but there’s plenty of hot water so it’s not a huge deal.
Overall great find for a getaway and so nice to be away from the crowds. Easy drives to Captain Cook/Two Step, green sand beach, and black sand beaches.

Our host both thought of everything to make our stay more enjoyable.
From lots of information about Hawaii and the area to sunscreen additional toiletries, beach towels, cooler, grill and so much more.
The Hawaiian cottage decor was so thoughtfully put together and made us
truly feel that we were in Hawaii. The gifts of Kona coffee, macadamian nuts and
bowl of fruit made us feel so welcomed. The views of the ocean were breathtaking every morning and evening. The only thing we overlooked was that the cottage had a couple
limitations like a compost toilet, not our favorite. Everything else was great and we
would highly recommend anyone that wants a true Hawaiian experience to stay there.
