About this house rental
Nestled in Barrengarry, this charming house for $402 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Hampden House offers guests serene accommodation amongst beautiful established grounds overlooking the Valley escarpment with private access to the Kangaroo River. Hampden House was chosen by the Australian Women's Weekly as the location for their winter fashion shoot. Boxstudios have used the property for music videos. Good news - Wifi, Netflix, as well as ducted heating and cooling to ensure your stay is comfortable all year round, although it is always lovely to light the fire in the cooler months. Built towards the end of the 1800s, Hampden House retains many of its original features including outbuildings, 3 sandstone fireplaces, century old hardwood flooring and cedar windows. It is set on acreage with frontage to the Kangaroo River and is a short stroll to the quaint heritage listed village of Kangaroo Valley. The house has wide verandas with extensive views of the surrounding valley escarpments. The property has been in the same family for 5 generations and the current host is the great grand-daughter of the original owner. The main house has 4 bedrooms featuring many of the property’s original furnishings. The kitchen and separate living room offer stunning views of the property surrounds and feature the original chimneys, echoing the sandstone of the renowned Hampden Bridge. Hampden House sits beyond a laurel hedge amongst fruit trees. Meander in the orchard or down to the waters edge and listen to the gently flowing river as you relax in the garden. Make yourself at home, relax in front of the fire or on the veranda with a good book and take in the clean crisp country air of one of Australia’s most beautiful regions. Discover the tranquil world of Kangaroo Valley and enjoy this elegantly furnished house which is suitable for couples who enjoy their own company or for a small group of family or friends. What a credit to Karen our host , previous reviews say it all, we were there for a wedding other than that we just sat back and enjoyed the property did not need to go anywhere else . short 10 minute walk to the cafes etc

Hampden House is a beautiful cottage located on the river front and a short stroll from the main shopping strip. Abundantly laden citrus and fruit trees surround the house, with stunning views of the escarpment. Inside, every detail has been thought of, all the kitchen staples are provided and more! Lovely treats, decadent toiletries, sumptuous beds with electric heating, piles of wood for the fire. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

This is a very special property. The house is full of antiques and wonderful old photos & prints, yet it also has all the mod cons to be completely comfortable. The garden leads down to the river, which is so beautiful & perfect for a cool down. Or if you prefer to swim in a pool you will not be disappointed. The pool is beautiful, surrounded by huge sandstone pavers. The house is an easy walk to town for restaurants, cafes, markets etc.
And, the owner filled the house with treats which we thoroughly enjoyed! We will be back!

The best holiday our family have ever had in a beautiful heritage home with river access, a private pool, and beautiful extra touches such as a homemade cake, sourdough, fresh butter, fresh eggs and champagne

Really enjoyed our stay here...we travelled from Sydney and was very easy to find and check in was a breeze. Property was great with a wrap-around balcony that each bedroom and living areas had access to. Loved the nice touches by the owner such as fresh bread and the odd tasty beverage left for our enjoyment! Great having bikes available to us that we could head into town or down to Hampden Bridge. But probably the best was the location backing onto the Kangaroo River, where my boy and I could launch our kayak to head up river....shallow in places where we were but easy enough to drag the kayak over in places and go again. Thoroughly recommend!!

Hampden House is just gorgeous. My friends and I had such a beautiful time. So much love and care has been put into this place that it has a nurturing quality. We arrived to a beautiful cake, and lovely treats that and had a beautiful celebration for my birthday. A very special place. Karen you thought if everything thank you so much! 😊
