It's literally next to dobutsuen mae station (exit 3)
Daiso, don quijote, tsutenkaku are all within walking distance, if you need the jr line, it's across the road, there's a famimart joining the building

For the price this is remarkable value on all fronts, including location.
Virtually nothing. I don't understand most of the complaints, especially regarding room size: this is Japan, have you ever been anywhere else in Japan before complaining?

Decent bed.
3 steps from the train station and a convenience store.
Clean bed and linens
The wash basin was backed up and that was kind of gross...by otherwise fairly clean (by Japan standards, a below average)
The man at reception at 10:00 a.m. 5 January, 2026 was EXTREMELY rude! I was absolutely shocked.
First, when handing in my room key, he barely acknowledged me and just nodded to the counter saying leave it there.
Next, I went to give him my Family Mart receipts for the cashback, he checked them and dropped 3 coins into my hand without getting up, without even looking at me!
Then a few minutes later, when I asked to use a coin locker, he rudely said, "No, you cannot use a locker." In a raised, angry tone.
He said you can leave your bag there (gesturing vaguely to the side) I asked where, at the station?
He then actually raised his voice almost shouting at me and repeated there (pointing violently behind the reception)
If he had bothered to stand up for even 1 second of our entire 3 interactions, I might have seen where he was gesturing.
But forget standing/ bowing / greeting... He actually shouted and glared at me!!!!
I am beyond shocked. I have never experienced something like this at a hotel. I have never experienced something like this in my 7 years in Japan. And he would never dare to treat a Japanese guest like this, I'm sure.

You could hear the trains during the night, since is so close to the train station.
