We booked a triple room and got room number 6, which was very convenient for three of us: spacious yet cosy. This is the one with a high roof, which was not otherwise clear in the photographs. Very clean, tidy, well-organized.
We were out most of the day, and ate out most meals, so the basic kitchenette was adequate for making coffee and cutting fruits. The refrigerator was very useful for storing the milk and fruits.
The rooms are located deep inside, away from the road and opening on to a large courtyard full of trees and greenery. Very quiet despite being so well connected: a few minutes walk in any direction from all forms of public transport to take you to anywhere in the city, and a wide range of excellent eating places. Could not ask for a better location. The tariff also seemed very decent.
Entering the building required a phone call to the owner to get a code, which gave us access to the keys. We later bumped into the owner, quietly sweeping away the dry leaves in the courtyard, and he was so warm and helpful!
A couple of very minor points -
The small-sized bath towels have been mentioned by other reviewers. For a family, this should not be a problem.
The summer nights were a bit warm, which required us to keep the windows ajar, in the absence of AC and fans. In most seasons, this should not matter.

What a beautiful welcoming we had ,like the good old days ,Mr Marcus welcomed us and gave us the key to our room ,and advised us for a few things we wanted,the room is located in the best area ,safe and peaceful and the room is in a nice private garden,hot water instantly for shower ,comfy beds ,one key of 3 doors ( no passwords and no new generations bullshit )
I wish the internet was better but in general the Berlin internet is bad even using my phone data

Clean room, nice location, a decent neighborhood, easy check-in and checkout, friendly staff, every necessary item was included such as the towels, glasses, plates etc.

Perfect location for tourists. Walking distance to Alexander platz, TV tower and Hackescher Markt.
Good location for shopping clothes etc.
Close to subways and trains.
Larger Lidl shop about 4 streets away from the hostel. Smaller night open shops nearby.
Large amounts of restaurants. Vegetarian meals are available at many restaurants.
The street where this hotel is located is a backstreet that doesn't look too good, but felt safe enough.
Most of the popular areas felt safe and the people are very friendly. But be careful about pick pockets around the East side gallery when you stand and watch the art works.
Acceptable standard and good size on the room. Acceptable beds. Fridge and a kitchen table was available in the room.
Private toilet and shower with nice standard.
No kitchen with running water. No microwave. No stove to cook food.
The room does not have air condition. It was too hot in the room during the summer.
No safe for valuables.
The floor was "squeeking" very loudly in one place, almost waking other people up in the night.
Bathroom door can't be locked.
