Beautiful location, very close to Keswick. The lodge was very well laid out and had all the basic necessities needed for the stay, including washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, coffee pods, coffee sachets and teabags. Absolutely loved the little hamper for the dog (bowls, towel, blanket, poo bags and treat). A lot of places advertised as dog friendly are actually just dog tolerant but we really felt this place was genuinely dog friendly. Loved the dog play area on site. Will definitely be returning. (The lodge also had excellent WiFi and lots of space for our 3 year old and 8 month old to play).
There are just 3 things that I would tweak if I was being picky:
1. The beds are REALLY high. We had to run into Penrith to buy a bed rail for our 3 year old cos if she rolled out of bed it would have been quite a fall.
2. The shower itself is excellent - perfect pressure and temperature. The position of it, however, means that the shower curtain unavoidably clings to you whilst you shower, which was a little annoying.
3. Flies. They’re to be expected, given it’s the lakes and there are farms everywhere. Maybe some fly screens on the doors may help?
None of these would prevent us from returning :)

It had all of the facilities that you need for a comfortable stay and the location is stunning as you are a stones throw from the Keswick and Bassenthwaite.
The accommodation is too small if you have a medium to large dog. Also the overall cleanliness was lacking a little as the kitchen workbenches were sticky and the same could be said for the dining table. There was also a lot of dust on the blinds and cobwebs on the windows. It was as if the staff didn't have the time to do a thorough clean before we arrived. However as there is a very late check in time of not before 4pm and a check out time of no later than 10am, I would have thought this would be more than enough time for a deep clean.
