Hotel Sporting

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Sporting. Our suite was beautiful — spacious, comfortable and spotless, with a wonderful terrace and the beach literally right in front of us. Waking up to that view every morning was very special. The whole hotel has such a relaxed, charming atmosphere. The little turtles wandering around the grounds were an unexpected and lovely touch! The pool is beautiful, breakfast was excellent, and the staff couldn’t have been nicer — genuinely warm, friendly and always smiling. We were also very touched by how well we were looked after during our stay. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back before you’ve even left.

The property was located right on the mediterranean Sea and the beach was beautiful. Overall, the staff was very nice. The breakfast buffet was delicious. However, since we prepaid for either breakfast lunch or dinner, we could choose lunch or dinner. The food’s presentation was very nice. However, the choices did not differ much because it was a preset menu. The ambience of the hotel was a little too stuffy.

This hotel is advertised as a five star hotel not sure how they got that rating. The furniture in our room was outdated and very old. The side table was uneven and I had to put paper under one of the legs to make it not wobble and the chair cushions were old and worn out barely staying on the base. The hotel location is very remote and you are pretty much stuck at the property however there is a small town with a few restaurants and a grocery store. If you dare to or want to venture out. The actual hotel had no place to buy snack or coffee. They do have snacks and drinks in the mini fridge however, the prices were exorbitant. My biggest issue with this property is that it is not safe. As my husband and I exited the hotel there is a granite staircase leading down to the Port I missed the top step and tumbled all the way down to bottom hitting my head and seriously injuring my foot. The main entrance is a large gate for cars and a smaller gate for pedestrian access. However, we tried to use it in the small gate was locked and had to wait for a car to drive by to trigger the gate to open. The hotel manager stated that the granite staircase is not their property however unless you want to stand at the front gate and wait for a car to trigger its opening, This is the only entrance and exit to this hotel. At a minimum a minimum handrails or at yellow grips tape and signage needs to be installed showing that the stairs are slippery and dangerous. We ended up leaving two days early due to my injuries as it was difficult to enjoy the remainder of our vacation being battered and bruised. We did ask for a refund in the hotel refused. The hotel say was extremely expensive and not worth the money we paid. At a minimum this hotel should have provided us with a refund for at least one day as our stay was over $600.00 per night. Needless to say, we will never stay here again.
