Location, cleanliness. Kitchen facility had everything we needed. Meeting people in the kitchen dining area.
Abrupt manner of staff and initial correspondence. - they mellowed after we got to know them. We were coming from overseas and had a message to contact the Tourist lodge and give them a phone number and address in Australia. They wouldn’t accept our overseas details. The front door and main office were open for a short time each day and no one was in the office most of the eight days we stayed. It was an issue as one of our bags had gone missing on our flight.

Good location- around the corner from bus station, walkable from train station.
Older style building- they are busy revamping rooms, but still feels a bit jaded
