Our stay at Sri Lancashire House exceeded our expectations! Nishanti and Wasantha were so welcoming and hospitable. They did everything to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms were lovely, with fresh flowers everywhere! Both bedroom and bathroom were large and very comfortable. The guest house is a short walk to a lovely long beach. You can sit in the shade under the palm trees and enjoy a drink or a meal. Nishanti cooked us a beautiful breakfast both mornings which was served on our outside balcony. The attention to detail at the table and wonderful food not to mention friendly staff made it such an enjoyable experience. Wasantha took us to see a local turtle conservation area, where we could release the baby turtles into the sea. Another beautiful long beach! Thank you Nishanti and Wasantha for making our stay so special. We can’t recommend your place highly enough. It is the best we have stayed at in Sri Lanka. We will definitely be back.

We enjoyed 7 nights here. The breakfasts were amazing, and filled us up for the rest of the day - some days we didn't even have a second meal! You get free sunbeds under shade on the beach over the road and we spent 3-4 hours there most days. The bed was really comfortable, it was helpful having a mosquito net around it, and we made the most of the Aircon and the ceiling fan. The little touches in the room and outside were really thoughtful, with beautiful room flower arrangements every time the room was cleaned! The hosts willingly share recommendations for eateries and shops, and offer transport if needed too. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend staying here.

I would give this place 12 out of 10 (this is how much I enjoyed the stay) but on the last day they took advantage of my kindness and massively overcharged me for transfer to Galle. They charged me more than twice as much than some other companies I asked for a quote.

Exceptional stay. The hosts are going above and beyond to make your stay cozy and comfortable. The rooms are super spacious and clean. They serve the BEST breakfast we had throughout our travels. They even arrange sunbeds at the beach for you. Very kind and hospitable as well. Strongly reccomended.

This is such a beautiful place. Location is so pretty and near a stunning beach. The rooms are lovely. Clean and extremely comfortable. Delicious food. Kind, thoughtful, helpful staff. Nishanthi & Wasantha made this such a memorable stay for me.

Everything about our stay was Perfect.
The ROOM was beautifully decorated and the mattress sooo comfortable. I slept like a baby!
The WASHROOM was beyond Clean with modern fittings.
The BREAKFAST was scrumptiously Delicious and you will be spoilt for options. Both Western and Sri Lankan yummy yummy dishes included.
The Hosts are so kind-hearted and genuine that one wants to maintain lifetime friendship with them after spending just few minutes being in their company.
All I can say is - One of our Best Stays ever!!

Nishanti and Wasanthe went far and beyond and did everything to make us feel cozy and at home.
They made us breakfast packs when we needed to leave very early, and their breakfast was excellent!

We received a very friendly welcome on arrival along with flowers and a king coconut drink. Hosts were all very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to cater for dietary requirements, unlike a lot of other places. Breakfast was excellent and they even provided enough for a snack later.
Hosts were very attentive and informative about things to do in the area.
Location is right next to the beach (slightly out of town) and beach towels were even provided. The facilities listed for the room matched what was provided.
Highly recommended and we would gladly go back as you are made to feel right at home.

What an wonderful stay we had in the Sri Lancashire Guest House. Nisanthi and Wasantha have both been the mast amazing hosts with such genuine smiles, warmth and love. They have made this stay very special indeed. We felt like family, this felt like home!
We’ve been travelling in Asia since December and this truly is the loveliest hotel, with the TASTIEST breakfasts, extra snacks, gorgeous room, colour changing towels the utimate welcome drink.
We also appreciated the extra effort helping take us to get our laptop fixed and effortesty delivering gluten free food- such a rare treat!
This place really is specal- as are the hosts
The only thing I could recommend is having a water refilling station to reduce plastic waste and use non plastic straws.

We originally planned to stay for one night, but we enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay. We felt very comfortable thanks to the warm and friendly family who welcomed us. We were impressed by how they greeted us: they gave us flower necklaces and treated us to fresh coconuts. We also loved the atmosphere in the room where we stayed: everything was decorated with flowers and smelled of jasmine. We enjoyed spending time on the cozy and spacious terrace, and the breakfasts were very delicious and filling. The beach was clean, and there was a wonderful restaurant nearby where we had a great time. We appreciated the free tuk-tuk transfer service to and from the restaurant provided by the family. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and hope to return again. We wish the family who hosted us all the best!

Dear Nishanthi and Wasantha. You are the greatest hosts we’ve ever met! All the credit for our amazing holiday must be given to you as it was the first place we stayed during our travel, and the vibe you shared with us didn’t leave us up to the last day in Sri Lanka.
Your attitude is incredible. We felt like being at home. The way you met us the first day (with flower garlands which smelled like heaven), the way you treated us during the stay (ready to help with literally anything we needed) - everything breathed love at your house. Your attitude really exceeds all the expectations.
To those who are considering a stay at the place, please, don’t hesitate. This is going to be an eye-opening experience to what a 10 out of 10 is. No, this can’t be 10. We would give the hosts 10 times more if it was possible❤️.
As for the cleanliness - it was incredibly spotless. This was the cleanest place we had ever visited throughout all our journeys. As for the breakfasts - oh, this was something unbelievable. Everything was so tasty, served so neatly. And the balcony, where our breakfasts were served, overlooks the lovely garden, so you can see some lovely birds, squirrels and enjoy the sounds of them while having your breakfast. They give you a small bag where you can put whatever you haven’t eaten, so you can take it with you to the beach or put it in the fridge (the room facilities are also provided) and eat it later.
Another thing, which is worth mentioning, is the fresh flowers arranged around the room and on the balcony. So the place smelled so fresh, so nice. You can really see that they pay great attention to detail.
Regarding the beach, it’s a three-minute walk from the house and you are going to be really surprised in a good way as it is not crowded at all and, as a result, very clean. So you can enjoy your time at the beach with no plastic thrown around it.
There are also good cafes along the beach with quite affordable prices.

I spent a week at that wonderful place in March 2023 and cannot find enough words of praise. Nishanti and Wasantha are perfect hosts, very personable, always helpful and their place is breathing this love for pleasing their guests from every corner.
Sri Lancashire Guesthouse is meticulously clean, the rooms are very comfortably furnished with all the space one needs for keeping the belongings and spacious enough to give the feeling of home away from home. The bathroom also offers enough spaces to keep your things. Potted plants and flowers are everywhere, the decorations very tasteful and authentic Sri Lankan.
The service offered is outstanding, starting from the best breakfast I have ever had in a guesthouse, and I have had a number in six journes to that beautiful island. Certainly enough for two meals, at minimum. You get a bag to take leftovers (which even I, being a very good eater could not avoid) to the beach or your tour of the day, or keep in the little fridge for an evening snack. There also is a kitchen guests may use.
When you come home in the evening, incence sticks and moscito coils are already burning on your balcony, allowing for undisturbed hours outside after sunset.
Whatever you need, wherever you want to go - Nishanti and Wasantha are there to help and support. I should also mention the very friendly team that helps serving the breakfast and keeping the place so clean and nicley decorated.
Sri Lancashire Guesthouse is one of the best experiences I have had so far, and I will do my very best to return. I am hesitantly sending this review - if more people make the same experience and return, Nishanti and Wasantha will be booked solid for a long time.
Having said all that, I should also mention that with open windows, you do hear not only the birds and some chanting from the nearby temple, but also the road and train traffic as the guesthouse is situated between the tracks and the old main road from Colombo to Galle. I got used to it very quickly and still slept with open windows. Once you close them, you hardly hear anything.

Firstly for anyone considering a trip to Sri Lanka do not hesitate to visit. in all our years of extensive travel, this is the most fantastic of places , with the most friendliest of people.
We have had the most amazing holiday and credit must be given to the wonderful people at Sri Lancashire guest house . Prior to arriving we had numerous email dialogue with Nishanthi and Wasantha who put together a fantastic 2 week tour itinerary. We toured Sri Lanka extensively in a private car with our excellent driver Ari . The cost of this bespoke tour was considerably cheaper than any package and more importantly it was personal and tailor made ..
Now to Sri Lancashire Guest House… just amazing !
The welcome from the outset was unbeatable .. when we left, it was like saying goodbye to friends and family .
The room was very big with a wrap around balcony where a delicious breakfast was served .. very personal .
The property is spotlessly clean .. the cleanest throughout our trip .

This place is absolutely magical. We were fascinated from the first minutes of meeting the owners. I will say without delay that this is the best accommodation not only in Sri Lanka, but also in 10 years of our travels around the world. We have never met such a cordial attitude.
We felt like we were in a family, not just in a hotel. I felt that Nishanti was like a Sri Lankan mom to me :) When we faced the problem of exchanging money, they helped us and even offered to give us money if we needed it! It's incomprehensible.. We were so touched.
As for the accommodation, everything was impeccable, the room was spacious and decorated with great taste and amazing cleanliness. The pleasant fragrance of incense that I took with me, and now I remember with trepidation and nostalgia our stay in the house of Nisanti and Wasantha..
Separately, I want to mention the breakfasts, they were huge and infinitely delicious! Again, this is better than the 5-star hotels that we also happened to visit during our trip. I just want to thank you again for everything

The best start in Sri Lanka. I am happy that I found this great accommodation, definitely I will come here again. Early in the morning I was so kindly picked up by Wasantha at the airport in Colombo, felt immediately well taken care of. Then I was so warmly welcomed by Nashanthi and her mother at Sri Lancashire. The place, the location, the staff simply a dream. And the breakfast, I can hardly put it into words, you have to experience it yourself, I still dream about it now.
Honestly, I have no idea what could be done better. I wish for Sri Lancashire that they always have enough guests and that this beautiful place may give joy and peace to many people.

Very tasty breakfasts, chill location with EMPTY beach. Only you❤️ The best location to start or finish your trip to Sri Lanka.
Wasantha made for us some excursions and we had a small tuc tuc ride to local market to buy some fruits and clothes.
Wasantha also organized for us river safari with a good price! And told about fancy restaurants

A lovely Guest House for quiet and relaxing stay. Very clean, very comfortable, very stylish. Wonderful breakfast, probably the best in Sri Lanka :) Located near the beach (across the road) where we could use sunbeds free of charge. Guest House provided beach towels as well. It’s the best place ever in Sri Lanka! Nishanthi and Wasantha are so kind and generous persons! Nishanthi cooks so delicious breakfasts. Wasantha arranged two interesting tours - to turtles farm and safari in Bentota river. Also Wasantha can drive you by his tuk-tuk wherever you want.

From the fresh flowers on arrival to the glorious breakfast each day, Nishanti and Wasantha's guest house cannot be faulted. As well as Tuc-Tuc rides and great recommendations for dinner I was personally shown the beach area which is a beautiful little place where most times you are on your own, apart from one or two fisherman along the stretch. The beach is literally around a minute to get to. Always happy to please and eager to do more my hosts made me really look forward to my next trip and staying here again.

The arrival was already very warm with a flower necklace and coconut. Our hosts were all the time so kind and drove us to dinner or showed us the beach for example even brought us to the city while curfew so we can shop a postcard. The room was very clean and good smelling. Can’t say anything bad. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Absolutely one of the nicest places we’ve stayed during our travels of Sri Lanka! The owners/staff are just lovely, the room was beautiful. We received a flower necklace and a decorated coconut drink upon arrival, and a little gift souvenir during our stay!
The breakfast was amazing, and huge: we brought a good amount of it with us as a packed lunch.
If we’re ever in the area again we will certainly stay here again, and you should as well!

Nishanti and Wasantha are the kindest people!
Their hospitality is exceptional, they really care about their guests!
I felt so welcomed from the first second and the two made me feel like home. Wasantha took me to town and to dinner with his tuktuk whenever I needed - and this free of charge!
The room was so nice, super clean and lovely decorated like in the pictures, with such an eye for details like everything else in the guesthouse.
Breakfast was just amazing too!
They even offered me a fruit plate and juice when I wasn't even a guest anymore. I was just amazed by their kindness and hospitality and will definitely come back to their guesthouse if I should ever return to Bentota!

absolutely adorable couple running the place. this was the most luxurious room for the price we payed. it was tremendously clean, we got a free coconut as a welcoming drink. the weather was terrible but the beach is very nice to walk on.

Sri Lancashire Guest House was our best stay. Everything was exactly as advertised or even better. Exceptional breakfast every day with extra Sri-Lankan pastry for lunch. Private beach is just across the street. The staff (Nishanthi and Wasantha) were always eager to answer any questions and help in every way (even after we left the place!).
