This was a very comfortable place for a family of four - we could all enjoy our own space. The cottage had plenty of character and provided an idyllic, quiet spot to escape to after a day at the Edinburgh Fringe! The hosts were very helpful and always responded promptly to requests. The Coop in town was conveniently open until 22:00 every day.
It's difficult to pick on anything significant! Perhaps the lack of dishwasher tabs, salt and rinse-aid. Also, anyone planning on walking between the train station and the cottage should be ready for walking along the road. This was not a problem for us, but if you have small children it might be worth knowing.

The cottage had loads of charm and was large enough for our family and extremely comfortable. Having single rooms was also a godsend for our teen and pre-teen kids. East Linton itself was a lovely place with great walks, very safe and quiet, but on a bus route which allowed us to leave the car behind and explore nearby North Berwick (not somewhere you want to take a car!). If we’d had more time, which we all wished we’d had, we would have ventured in the other direction to enjoy seeing more of East Lothian. Also, the cottage had a bathroom with a shower and a separate shower room. For our family size, that was much appreciated!
More coat hangers would have been useful, but I do understand that no matter how many are provided, they grow legs and walk.
