Furnished - 2 Bedroom 2 Full Bath – Single level on West (Beach) Side
This updated condo is in Solana Beach located on the bluffs above the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Just blocks away from the world famous Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds.
Del Mar Beach Club is a private/gated ocean front complex. This fully furnished condo sleeps 4 people – the master bedroom has a king size bed and the second bedroom has 2 single/twin beds. We are permitted for 5 people but do not have an additional bed for the 5th person. All appliances in the kitchen are stainless steel and granite counter tops. LCD Flat screen TV with Cable TV and DVR ready so you don’t miss any of your favorite shows. Big screen TV’s in each bedroom. WIFI high Speed internet access included. You will have an assigned parking spot. Can provide a second assigned parking spot if requested. Quest parking is available with a quest parking pass. There is a full size washer and dryer in the unit for your convenience.
When coming up from the beach there is a Club House/Lounge that is on the ground level on the way back to the unit. The Club House/Lounge area has a bathroom with a hot shower down the hall. The Club House/Lounge overlooks the ocean and has a large center fireplace for lounging and watching the sunsets.
Quick Beach Access:
There is a private wide staircase just steps away from the unit built into the cliff leading from the complex to the beach that is much more private due to limited access.
AMENITIES:
Oceanfront Swimming Pools 2 of them on the Bluff and another pool across the street on the non-beach side. There is also another pool that is heated all year right next to our condo which also has a large sauna and indoor 7 Person Jacuzzi, bathroom with showers, BBQ’s and Gym Work Out Room (18 years of age or older only. At onsite office you would need to sign a waiver form and deposit $50.00 for the key which will be refunded once the key is returned). There are 2 tennis courts( Also will need a deposit and key from onsite office). Nearby there are grocery stores, restaurants, banks and lots of great shopping.
VIEWS
Complex sits on the bluff with fantastic ocean views by sitting at the pool or sitting at the view deck just steps away from the condo. Also enjoy the view in the enclosed clubhouse/Lounge that overlooks the ocean also just steps from the condo. This condo does NOT have an ocean view

We have stayed 3 times in this general area of Solana Beach and this location has the best and easiest access to the beach and a great viewing area for the beautiful sunsets. Kim the host was very quick to respond to any questions. The place was exactly as described in the listing. The bedrooms are a fair size, the master bath is a bit cramped but fine, linens, towels, soaps are all provided, the kitchen has lots of plates, dishes, cups and appliances. We did notice whoever does the cleaning between renters needs to do a better job, there was some dust and lots of human hair all around the bathroom sink and tubs which were easily washed away. I also borrowed some cooking utensils to use for our stay from our daughter since the ones there were a bit old and the plastic spatula was melted. Again, this is not a big deal for us. Parking for our car was just around the corner from the front door, we were able to see the car from the dining room. Being right next to the pool was a little noisy but that was no big deal. The bedrooms are on the opposite side of the pool on one of the main streets in the complex. There was a bit of car/truck noise in the morning from the garbage truck making its rounds and the construction vehicles that would pull in to do the work on the buildings roofs. There was a lot of construction going on and scaffolding all around some of the buildings and it would have been nice to have known about it. Overall, a great place to stay and we would do so again.

Overall, I would rate this as just an average vacation rental. The beach club, access to the pool and access to the beach are fantastic, but the condo itself was not great.
To begin with, the Del Mar Beach Club is a quiet spot, and the beach was great and pretty private/quiet as well. There are a lot of steps to get down the cliff, but you can see those in the pictures so that was fine. It's only about a 5 minute walk to the beach from the condo. The beach club is right by the Del Mar race track, and traffic was very congested due to an event there.
The pool is right outside the back door from the condo and again was never very busy. We enjoyed that.
Things we didn't like:
The check-in instructions we received from Homeaway were apparently not the instructions the manager expected us to get. A few phone calls upon arrival (she was very helpful) got us in, so it was only a mild irritation.
The condo itself smells very musty/damp. We opened windows and ran fans the whole time we were there and it helped a little, but not much. There were lots of little things that just show a lack of attention to detail throughout; I won't list them all but there were enough for us to notice. The wifi was a constant struggle; kept having to reset it to get signal and even then you wouldn't get it out in the living room, only back in the master bedroom where the router is located.
We've stayed at many Homeaway/VRBO places, and every other place there has been some sort of note/instruction out on a counter or table for you to help explain the rules and also welcome you to your vacation rental. In this case, we had to search through the drawers and found a stack of old papers and the instructions for check-out were somewhere in the middle of the stack of paper.
In the end, we enjoyed the location and access to the beach and pool, but the rest was average.
