A sweeping stairway takes you to the main level of this thoughtfully furnished beach retreat. The large, covered deck space is the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee as you watch the sun rise over the Gulf. Ocean views and the soothing sound of the sea lull your senses as you relax into the comfortable outdoor seating. When you’re not at the beach, you can enjoy a family movie on the large, flat screen TV with Blu-ray player or lounge comfortably with a book or indulge in a board game or puzzle. The restful and beautifully furnished living room shares a gas fireplace with the dining space that seats up to 6, and the bright and airy kitchen offers additional seating at the breakfast bar. Our well-equipped kitchen with brand-new stainless steel appliances has room for multiple cooks and one can easily access the covered deck from here. Panoramic window views of the Gulf greet you in every room of this shared living space. A split bedroom floor plan allows for the utmost of privacy and relaxation in the evenings. The master bedroom is located just off of the living room and boasts a King-sized four-poster bed with swivel rocker, flat screen TV, a private bathroom and access to a screened porch. The spacious master bath has a vanity space, large walk-in closet, soaker bathtub and separate tiled shower. The screened porch overlooks the driveway and pool area, and is a great spot for an outdoor card game or meal or to watch the colors of the changing sky at sunset. On the opposite end of the home is a private Queen bedroom with view of the pool area, hall bathroom with combination tub/shower and laundry room with front-loading, full size washer and dryer. A ground level bonus room offers a studio layout or “mother-in-law suite” with an additional living space with TV and Bluray player and half bath. This area has a private entrance and ground level deck space, there is no interior stairwell connecting this room with the upstairs of the home. Sleeping accommodations include a King sized bed and Queen sleeper sofa. A convenient morning kitchen offers plenty of counter space, mini-fridge, microwave, double sink and standard coffee maker. The full bath is located just off of the kitchen space and is accessible from the pool area as well. This is a great room for teenagers who need their own space! Enjoy your own private swimming pool with ample deck and lounge space and hot/cold outdoor shower. The pool deck area offers a propane grill, with an additional park-style charcoal grill at the entrance of the home. A fish cleaning table is available just outside of the pool deck. Situated on a corner lot, beach access via a community beach boardwalk is just a short and easy stroll from the property. Our home is also located just across from the paved bike path, for easy access to the Island center. We are also located about 3 blocks from the public East Hole access to the Apalachicola Bay. This house was very clean, beautifully decorated and very well stocked. My dad wouldn't stop raving about how comfortable his bed in the downstairs apartment was. The (clean!) pool area was huge and had ample seating. We were only there for two days because hurricane Idalia had her own plans and we had to follow the mandatory evacuation warning. The rental company mentioned a possible discount due to our shortened stay but I haven't heard from them since. To be clear, we did not purchase rental insurance! (You live and you learn) Im still Hoping they have mercy on us and send a small discount for the future. We were only there for two days but they were two amazing days partially in thanks to this beautiful home! We definitely hope to book it again in the future and get the full experience regardless of whether they send us a discount or not. The rental company did contact us about the hurricane which was nice because until then we were simply living in island bliss lol So the heads up was nice and appreciated! Also the walk to the beach was a breeze even for my mom and dad who are nearly 70 :)

Love the house and the location and for our third year in a row we had a great week at the Stork Nest. However the house is beginning to show a bit of wear. The pool has missing tiles and cracks and the toilet seats are at least a year overdue for replacement. Besides that there have been some improvements that definitely make this property our favorite.

It felt like staying in someone's home as opposed to a rental: Fully furnished and decorated, full kitchen chocked-full of anything you may need, outdoor spaces are a great combination of shaded, screened; house was incredibly clean and the location was perfect for beach and overall access.

It was a great house that met all our needs. The walk to beach was an easy one that even the two year old could walk. Loved the large porch and that it had gates. Also enjoyed eating on the screened portion of the porch.
The house was well stocked with dishes, cooking items, gadgets etc. Nice appliances. Beds we’re comfortable. Furniture was all nice and well made.
we loved the pool and deck area. Beautiful and inviting. We were glad there wasn’t any way to the pool except from the front of house. That way didn’t have to worry about a little child sneaking out the back and going by themself. If the pool is ever drained would be helpful to put nonskid strips on steps. My husband slipped getting into pool and cracked his fibula and severely sprained his ankle. Ended up on crutches for a week and confined to house.😞
Having the extra fridge close to the outside apartment came in handy for ice and drinks.
The only suggestions I have:
1. Providing a small tool kit
2. Providing two trash bags for each week stayed
We were there 3 weeks.
3. Maybe add a chair to left of fireplace for more seating for 8 people.

This was our first time in 10 years of coming to SGI for our yearly family vacation that we rented through Forgotten Shores Properties. Holy cow, what a GREAT management company. Kept in contact with me (beyond the standard emails), called me on the way down to advise of a cleaning issue, and were on site when we arrived, making sure everything was ok. Even got a call during our stay to make sure all was going according to plan. The property was in AMAZING condition...sometimes it's a **** shoot, as the pictures featured don't always tell the full story. 12/10. Would for sure rent through Forgotten Shores again!

We enjoyed our 3 weeks at the Storks Nest. Owners are friendly and the management company was very responsive (the wifi dropped once during our stay but they got it up again within an hour). There are a few repairs needed that they will be addressing but nothing that impacted our great stay.

We loved the home! It was perfect for what we were looking for and I was able to bring my two dogs along. The kitchen had every utensil we could have needed and everything was labeled so we didn't have to spend time searching for things. The backyard/pool area was fantastic. Lot's of seating so we could be in the sun or shade when we wanted without having to drag chairs around. Only downside (we missed when booking the home) is there are no stairs going from the pool area to the main floor so you have to walk around to the front steps, which was a little inconvenient but certainly did not ruin our vacation!

This property exceeded all of our expectations! The screened in porch was great for spending time outdoors in the evening without worrying about mosquitos. The fenced in pool was perfect for cooling off after a day at the beach. There was plenty of room for 6 adults to spread out and have their own space but also plenty of common space for everyone to be together. The location is just a short walk to the beach and close to town. We rented a golf cart and used it to get to the grocery, shops, and restaurants on the island as well as hauling our free beach gear to the beach. We hope to make it back again in the future!

Beautiful home with a GREAT location!
This home is beautifully decorated and really made me feel like I was in a home that was loved and well taken care of. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need and more. My mother-in-law and I also enjoyed reading the books in the home. It has tons of books! In addition, my family and I really enjoyed the bicycles that we rented through the gift voucher. However, I could only give the property three stars. Upon our arrival, we realized that the ice maker wasn't working property. The property management company was quick to get out to check it out but they could not fix it. I was told that they would schedule an appliance repair person and that they would keep me in the loop as to when they would arrive but I never heard from them again and no one ever came, so we had to buy ice for the week. We also struggled with the layout a little. The listing and the pictures are very clear but I didn't think about the pool being in the back and the only stairs being in the front of the house. We love to hang out with family and grill out by the pool but it is just not convenient to do that. The stairs at the front of the home are the only stairs and this made getting everything from the kitchen to the pool area inconvenient. And without rearranging their furniture (which we didn't do), there is no way to sit on the porch and watch the kids playing in the pool, so it made it hard for some sun sensitive family members to join in on the fun. The washing machine has not been cleaned in a very long time and smelled very bad. I was very hesitant to wash our clothes in the machine but did. Clothes came out clean but had a slight musty smell. Lastly, the TVs are terrible. The TV in the living room has a huge yellow square in the middle of the screen and the other TVs are very little. We don't really come to the beach to watch TV but wanted to give an honest review. Overall, the house was beautiful and the location was wonderful; it was just not laid out well for our needs.

We had a great time. The house was perfect, a very short distance to the beach access across the round and about 1.5 miles to the shops/restaurants on a flat cycle path. When we booked it said there was no shower in the downstairs unit but there is a beautiful shower there now which was a happy discovery! The house has everything you could ever need. The pool was the perfect size for our 2 young kids to splash around in and was lovely and clean although a little cold for me!! It is perfect for pets as the back yard is completely fenced and the front porch has a gate on it so the dog could enjoy the sea breeze too. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to anyone!

This time one of the members in our party accidentally left behind a couple of items. The staff was able to locate them and mail them back and I appreciate that extra courtesy. We will surely return to The Stork Nest and SGI.

A wonderful spring break
We had a great time. The house was perfect, a very short distance to the beach access across the round and about 1.5 miles to the shops/restaurants on a flat cycle path. When we booked it said there was no shower in the downstairs unit but there is a beautiful shower there now which was a happy discovery! The house has everything you could ever need. The pool was the perfect size for our 2 young kids to splash around in and was lovely and clean although a little cold for me!! It is perfect for pets as the back yard is completely fenced and the front porch has a gate on it so the dog could enjoy the sea breeze too. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to anyone!
