This hotel probably has the best kids facilities there are. The Maro play room is just amazing, they have literally everything you might want (e.g. kids foosball, pool table, legos, various wooden building sets, playstation/switch room, plastic ball swimming pool, a drawing to digital world converting game, multiple playrooms and of course the trampolines). We were absolutely impressed by the facilities available, can't imagine another hotel something that could beat this. Also everything else at the hotel was at very good level. The food (breakfast and dinner) was of quite high quality and good variety and flexible enough for kids (e.g. you could pick and craft your own pasta dish). The swimming pool area was also very nice and considerate of different needs (e.g. there were a couple of basic slides, a kids pool and a proper adults pool). The room was also very comfortable and fresh in terms of renovation. All the staff also did a great job. Overall we really had a great experience!
Not much tbh. I guess the only thing is that this hotel doesn't have its own dedicated beach and even if you go to another Valamar property (e.g. President), you're still expected to pay for the sunbeds (50 EUR for 2 sunbeds, quite a steep price) as they are only free for Valamar President hotel guests. But we didn't use the beach too much, so it wasn't a major inconvenience for us.

Maro World is absolutely must visit if you have kids. Food has quality over quantity. Hotel is very clean and well maintained.
Lack of beach nearby. Copacabana is dirty and not something you’d expect from Croatian picturesque beaches. We went to the beach of the Valamar President hotel but unless you’re staying in that hotel you will be treated like a thief or somebody really not wanted there by the President hotel staff. Even though you’re staying at the sisters hotel - Tirena.
Oh yeah, there are bed bugs inside the extra beds. Our child was bitten. We didn’t receive any apologies and hotel staff was denying it however I saw other guests bitten too.

The kids entertainment and pools were amazing. The facilities and access to the sister hotels and beaches made for so much variety and fun to choose from.
The beds are a bit uncomfortable ( for me)

Our room was lovely, clean, spacious, and had a great view. The only slight downside was that we were given two single beds pushed together rather than a proper double bed.
Breakfast was good, with a variety of hot and cold items, and it was nice to have the option of sitting outside in the outdoor dining area. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and the hotel itself was well maintained and of a good standard. The location is good if you plan on staying by the pool most days and its within walking distance of the beach. You can take a short taxi ride to the city walls and main attractions.
We booked this hotel for the last few days of our Croatia trip, hoping to relax by the pool and unwind. We chose it over other options because of the great reviews, but if you're looking for peace and quiet during the day, this probably isn't the best choice.
One thing we felt was missing was an adults-only pool. Around the swim-up bar, there were lots of children playing, splashing, and making noise. We travelled in June, just before the school holidays, and assumed it would be a little quieter, but unfortunately that wasn't the case.
It's a great hotel for families, but we didn't feel it was suited to couples looking for a more relaxing atmosphere. There's plenty of space around the hotel to add an adults-only pool. This would make a huge difference and create a much more enjoyable experience for guests wanting some downtime.
We also found the options for dairy-free guests quite limited. There were no dairy-free ice cream choices available at lunch and no dairy-free yoghurt at breakfast. While dairy-free milk was provided, it would have been nice to see a wider range of options, such as pastries and other dairy-free or vegan alternatives, to better cater for guests with dietary intolerances.
If I returned to Dubrovnik, I would choose an adult only hotel or find one closer to the town.
