My girlfriends and I celebrated all our 50th Birthdays and 36 years of friendship at ocean maya royale. The property was exceptionally clean. The rooms were comfortable. The experience team kept us motivated with plenty of activities in and out of the pool. We also had a fantastic experience getting professional pictures done.

The food was delicious. By far we loved both the Italian and French dining restaurants. There was no dinner buffet option as at the time of us going, the restaurant was being renovated. Breakfast and Lunch buffet were quick and convenient though. The beach unfortunately at the time of going was full of decomposing sargaasm (seaweed) which at times smelled like rotten egg. We did try to by pass this, to at least soak in the salty water. They also tried to clean up the beach as much as possible. I was a little disappointed that the ocean wasn't as blue and clear as I imagined.

The entire facility was excellent and clean.

I didn't like that some of the restaurants were only open a couple of evenings. We also didn't like the seaweed situation/smell but that could not be helped and was not a reflection of the resort itself.

They restaurant quality of the privilege. Timing was very good. The other restaurants that were not privilege had decent food, but not more than a scale of seven.

I paid for and stayed in a junior suite with an outdoor patio Jacuzzi for five nights and every single day and night the Jacuzzi was not working properly. The water was not warm and nowhere near hot. I contacted the staff every day, sometimes twice a day in the morning, afternoon and evening to report again and again that the temperature for the hot water was not working and they attempted to fix it both by sending a butler who looked at the internal water gauges because the water in the bathroom was fine, but that didn’t fix it. They also sent the maintenance crew to my suite who claimed that they fix it, but when I got back after they reported to fix the hot water, it was still not hot. This was infuriating and very disciplining because I paid for a Jacuzzi suite that should come with hot water. I asked for a credit back to my card for the difference in cost for a regular suite because I clearly was unable to use and enjoy the Jacuzzi during my entire stay because it only had cold water. I did not receive a credit for it and was assured on the day I left that they would have it checked again. I suggested that they discount that suite or let people know who are assigned to room 106 that the hot water in that Jacuzzi does not work and that they are not charge for a Jacuzzi that malfunctions. This experience greatly diminished the pleasure of my vacation because I wanted to enjoy a nice warm Jacuzzi in the evenings for bedtime. That’s just like I do at home. But that was not possible because of the facility malfunction and nothing anyone did fix it. This, was on top of daily infestations of mosquitoes on the patio and in the Jacuzzi that I had to report to housekeeping to get them to clean it twice a day.
