My girlfriends and I celebrated all our 50th Birthdays and 36 years of friendship at ocean maya royale. The property was exceptionally clean. The rooms were comfortable. The experience team kept us motivated with plenty of activities in and out of the pool. We also had a fantastic experience getting professional pictures done.
The food was delicious. By far we loved both the Italian and French dining restaurants. There was no dinner buffet option as at the time of us going, the restaurant was being renovated. Breakfast and Lunch buffet were quick and convenient though.
The beach unfortunately at the time of going was full of decomposing sargaasm (seaweed) which at times smelled like rotten egg. We did try to by pass this, to at least soak in the salty water. They also tried to clean up the beach as much as possible.
I was a little disappointed that the ocean wasn't as blue and clear as I imagined.

The entire facility was excellent and clean.
I didn't like that some of the restaurants were only open a couple of evenings. We also didn't like the seaweed situation/smell but that could not be helped and was not a reflection of the resort itself.

Many activities (ex: a circus show and marriage show), exceptional staff, delicious food (there was not one food I had that wasn’t delicious), comfortable bed, spacious rooms, beautiful beach with hammocks
I don’t do well with crawling things so the iguanas and coatis roaming was not my favorite - but I knew that when I booked it!

The property was well taken care of. A little “old” than I would have expected but still nice
The staff was amazing
Unable to access the beach due to the seaweed.
It seemed as if everything was up for renovation. I believe this should have been disclosed at the time of booking
