The Location
I’m not sure what’s wrong with the drainage system, but the bathroom has a slight drain smell

The Protea Hotel is beautifully decorated and is right next to a lot of restaurants, a shopping center and a five minute walk to the beach. The staff is really friendly and the breakfast was great. You can enter the hotel from the parking garage, which is great. Our family room was spacious with comfortable beds and a big shower. The room had everything we needed and we could even move in a little bit before time.
Unfortunately I have to confirm what other guests also complained about: The noise level from cars revving their engines and speeding down the road on Saturday night was insane. Even on the 8th floor it sounds like these cars are right next to your bed (NOT exaggerated). Despite being exhausted it was impossible to sleep until long after midnight. It was the loudest place I've stayed at in my whole life. Sunday night was ok, loud car noise only occasionally.
