Great location, great people working there but the hotel needs some love

The hotel is in a great location and it has a lot of potential. The people working there are all super nice, friendly and willing to help. The hotel is a bit dated and it really needs some love and a deep renovation. The rooms are very humid and need to be updated

Disappointing for many reasons.

So, what was good... 1/ the staff: as well the team at the reception as the team of the beach bar was amazing. Very friendly, professional, going the extra mile 2/ beach: ok, Holbox is great, but this area has one of the best beaches in my opinion 3/ the restaurant next door was great (BUT that does NOT belong to the hotel.... you are basically an outsider coming to that restaurant)

Ok... let me get started... 1/ overall state of the hotel was below par... Not at the level as one would expect. Is this a 4 star or a 3 star? Tbh, this is NOT a 4 star. (as again the restaurant where we had breakfast, lunch and dinner was not belonging to the hotel) 2/ hotel is outdated, rooms are dark,... for the Europeans here... i had a very big 'camping' feeling here.. No luxury...Upon arrival and when seeing the rooms I asked for an upgrade (which I got and for which i paid btw). I got what I assume was the best rooms are they were the only 2 rooms with a beach view. These rooms were big, but again outdated. (see ge bathroom) Other elements of being outdated: there is a swimming pool (yay!), but if you look closer, you also see this is outdated. Same for the sunbeds: compare the sunbeds with the ones of the neighbours, and you see the difference... 3/ as this hotel has no restaurant and is not organized to serve you drinks etc... I needed to pay every day the bills... I was hoping to put everything on the rooms and pay at the end 4/ when asking how i could formulate a complaint, I felt that the owner is a bit 'away'.. And as I had no way of complaining officially, i think it's better i share my comments with fellow travelers This was an overall disappointing experience. We have travelled a lot and I feel i was naive, believing the score here, in combination with the 4 stars.

very cute hotel, nice grounds,right on the beach, big rooms, cold drinking water readily available , lady at check in is nice and helpful

no restaurant on site and near by ones are very expensive, beach chairs were covered in sea weed, understand thats hard to control but other hotels were making an effort to move it, one of the waitresses served two drinks and asked for a $5 tip at the bar who didnt readily come to serve me when I sat down in the hotel beds area, couldnt seem to find the second pool it states to have and the other is on the roof top, a while from the main area and taxis on this island are very greedy $150 pesos to move the golf cart, hotel needs to offer bikes

Exceptional

Absolutely amazing. The only caveat I would say is if you are planning on working using the Wi-Fi it is hit or miss. However, on this part of the island it is normal because of the amount of people and stress on the infrastructure. If you need to do work or have a more stable connection go into town and there are multiple locations with starlink at coffee shops or restaurants. Perfect location to get away and relax. It is right at the beginning of the sandbar where you can walk into The preserve. Paul the manager and his partner were amazing and extremely knowledgeable about the island and what to do.

Only issue was the wifi and bc of the location cell service is not the best but going I to town is good and can

Superb

Hotel located in the very nice part of Holbox with amazing beach- peaceful and quite. We liked a jungle vibe at the property. Staff very friendly and helpful.

It is 3 star hotel not 4 star as it is promoted everywhere. For breakfast you should go to neighbouring hotels. Old style electricity plugs in the room, not very convenient.

Superb

Hotel is away from main center, so it has quite beach front, with chairs and shed. Nice bar with good cocktails and food for good price, delivered to you to beach front. Staf is attentative, room is big and clean.

Everything was superb. Price even with discounts is not small. But it is worth it. They don't have breakfast options at all. But in center are a lot of nice cafes.

Disappointing

Lovely staff and customer service. They help book taxis if you need them. We enjoyed the rooftop with the pool. Although the location is not the best, the beach outside the hotel is comfortable (depending on the day). In addition, there is a good restaurant in the hotel next door. :D

The hotel is much too expensive for what you get. The hotel is located quite far away from the town centre - it takes about 15-20 min walk which for some can be too far away to walk. Also, the hotel doesn't have an option to borrow bikes which would be great considering the distance to the centre. The rooms are obscure and non-comfortable at all. When we arrived, we found dirty towels with yellow stains and also bed sheets were stained. The rooms on the ground floor are very exposed to other people, so there's no privacy. The bathroom was also obscure; on the shower curtain, the stains looked like mould. Additionally, the cistern issue with the toilet was frustrating. The ground-level pool was very dirty, and the poll's walls were ragged. The images this hotel presents do not show this place's actual condition. The place has great potential but needs urgent refurbishment.

No toilets or showers at the beach - long walk to find breakfast or dinner - only 2 beds at the beach for 4 adults (because we stayed in one room) - no private balcony - very noisy generator next to Reception - view point at Alma Bar not open for sunset - no good coffee available in the hotel

great location, clean beach. rooftop bar with a beautiful view of the island. receptionist was really nice and welcoming, remembered my name after one time meeting and made sure I feel comfortable.

really bad wifi, but that’s most of the hotels on the island. also mattress on the beds are not comfortable and AC was located right on top of my bed which caused me to get a really bad cold.

The beach is right in front of the hotel. The staff was kind and friendly, and they even let us keep our luggage here after check out for a few more hours.

The wifi in non-existent here. If you are coming and still need to check your laptop or try to do some work, don't. You won't be able to. The hotel feels like is ready for a remodeling. Room lights are poor, and so is the hot water. I think the A/C is not enough to cool down this size of a room. It never got it down to a cold feeling. I just think I paid about 3 times what they should really charge, but everything in the island is overpriced too. The location is very remote. Taxis charge 200 pesos now to get you there. Don't think you will make back to town walking. I thought we could and after getting tired we just got a taxi. This area has the best beach thought. I loved the beds and the service in the beach club. I had a few micheladas and even took a relaxing nap while I was there. Not trying to criticize anything. Just trying to be fair and informative, while being honest and transparent. I expected something different based on the pictures and the price, but we still enjoyed our stay here. Definitely choosing something cheaper next time, closer to the center and with about the same amenities. Thanks!
