Beautiful property set within the rainforest with abundant wildlife and delicious meals
There were some critters were in the rooms, including ants and termites, but the staff took care of that when I told them. There was no internet in the rooms so it was necessary to go to the dining area to get online.

The location is wonderful. The cabins were nicely laid out in the grounds to take in the surroundings and afford a reasonable amount of privacy. Bird life is amazing everywhere. The staff were lovely and Fernando the guide was exceptional. The other guests were mainly on organised group tours but that didn’t spoil the atmosphere. It was the most expensive stay of our entire trip but the unique location made it worth it.

The lodge has a fantastic location in the heart of the rainforest, teeming with birds, reptiles, and insects. It's the perfect choice for nature lovers. Most of the rooms are like semi-detached houses, and because there are no panes of glass, only gauze, you can easily hear your neighbors talking loudly. On the other hand, you also have the wonderful sounds of the rainforest. The entire staff is very helpful and gives great tips on what to do and how to recharge. I even met the Schnitzler family, who were visiting and built the whole place. A remarkable achievement and a true life's work. It's worth visiting the lodge for that alone, taking a few walks, and perhaps even visiting the LaGamba Tropical Research Station at the same time.
There's only Wi-Fi in the main building, where the restaurant and bar are located. There are comfortable seating areas, and during my three days there was always plenty of space. However, given the current situation, I would still prefer Wi-Fi everywhere. The food is plentiful and served at set times, but the cuisine seems to be a blend of European and Latin American flavors. I didn't particularly enjoy this, as sauerbraten really doesn't belong in Costa Rica.
