Grand Caribe Belize

It is a huge hotel, so you have to do a lot of walking. They have a lot of pools, very big and warm, about 89 degrees. We had an studio on the 4th floor, no views but very spacious, huge walk-in closet. In he room we had a microwave, a minifridge, daily small tubes of toiletries, a hairdryer, luxurious towels :), a coffeemaker (coffee, sugar and cream provided for free), one bottle of water provided only once, and a very comfortable bed. Paper towels, cups, dishes and cutlery were provided as well. They had beautiful decorations in our room, with shaped towels and flowers, the first day, it was sweet. The bathroom/shower was very big, marbled countertops, everything looked very new. Security by all entrances at all times. Nice and warm people though. The store and the gym are not inside the hotel, they are at the corner. The gym is very well equipped spacious and clean. You can park your golf cart for free across the street (you will need one, trust me). The staff is overall friendly and helpful. There is a hotel dock where tours can pick up from. Pool towels are provided. It is about 15 minutes to San Pedro downtown by car. About 25 minutes to Secret Beach. Good location, safe. There is no swimming by the beach (not only here, all the hotels in this area too), too much sargassum. It was very windy but refreshing because it gets very humid. 83-84 temperatures day and night.

No USB outlets by the bed. No kettle. There was a lot of construction going on in our building so we had to go around the building every time. Also, the workers were not noisy but VERY messy. They left a lot of trash on the stairs everyday! The RAIN restaurant nearby is overpriced and the quality is not there. It is a tourist trap, go to Garage Seafood and Steakhouse or Aji Tapa Bar (both very good). The convenience store is VERY mediocre, just walk/drive a bit farther and there are many better options ( I recommend the PALM Supermarket, 5 minutes from hotel).

The location was beautiful, never felt crowded, the island is walkable. The pools were perfection.

If a person has mobility challenges, this is not the place for you. All stairs all the time. The “market” was poorly stocked, little or no milk, fruit, eggs, juice, local specialties, books, postcards, baked goods or other things my beautiful little kitchen needed to be useful. In a country that grows coffee snd sugar, it was weird to have only maxwell house and splenda available. Would have liked a chaise on the spacious balcony. But none of this marred our pleasure. We hope to return.

Quiet location about 10-15 min drive to busy area. Pool side food and service was great. The apartments themselves were very nice and spacious. The staff running the property were nice and helpful. Front desk staff were nice and answered questions. Overall I would stay here again.

The pool was nice but cold (not their fault). There were 5 pools, so one heated pool would've been nice, and the jacuzzies were too small (3 small adults max). We had to change rooms because reservation said ocean view and it was not ocean view when I went to my room. This was handled quickly after we requested a change. This is not a resort in the sense that there are things to do like scheduled activities and entertainment. We didn't know this when booking. But overall enjoyed the property and our short stay. If we stayed longer (week vs 3 days), we would have picked this place. A shorter visit we would pick a place with a little more lively energy and scheduled activities and entertainment.

Concierge staff were very unprofessional and messed up our golf cart reservation . very disrespectful treatment for guests
