The Fortescue Inn Salcombe

It was a lovely inn with a great atmosphere and in a fabulous location to enjoy the best of Salcombe

There was nothing to be negative about it was a superb place to stay

Great location in the middle of the town. Lovely room, clean and very good facilities. The staff were really friendly and helpful, they went above and beyond throughout our stay.

The place itself is absolutely stunning, full of character and charm, and the location is fantastic - very central and within easy walking distance of shops, cafés, restaurants, the ferry, and public parking. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that cooked breakfast was complimentary, which we really appreciated.

The accommodation is quite overpriced for what it offers. Also, it can be very, very loud at night. We were warned in advance that it could be noisy and were kindly provided with earplugs, so we knew to expect some noise. However, on a couple of nights, the music was so loud that we could actually feel the bass vibrating through the room, and the noise continued until around 3am, although thankfully this wasn’t every night. In general, the area is lively and the noise doesn’t really stop before midnight. This is something I think future guests should be aware of, particularly if you are a light sleeper or looking for a quiet, relaxing stay. Our room was on the first floor, close to the kitchen and staff rooms, and directly next to the roof area where people were walking, which also made the mornings quite noisy, as early in the morning, staff were receiving food and deliveries, cleaning and carrying out other restaurant duties, etc. Unfortunately, the rooms are not soundproof, so we could hear conversations and general activity quite clearly. The quality and size of the beds were not quite what we expected for the price as well. Combined with the noise at night and again in the morning, this made it very difficult to properly relax, rest and get a good night’s sleep.

Location is fabulous and every single member of staff were just amazing Great breakfast!!!

It was noisy but was told about that before we booked … but the cleaner for 3 mornings started at 4.30 in the morning !! Woken up with doors slammed and unacceptable noise !!! The whole bed base showing was filthy No room cleaner over the whole time so bins not even emptied
