Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

I really enjoyed the beautiful property, the variety of pools, and the overall atmosphere. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and there were plenty of options for relaxing, dining, and enjoying the resort without feeling bored. The staff was also friendly and welcoming throughout my stay.

There wasn’t anything major that I disliked about the property. The resort is quite large, so some areas can feel a little spread out, but overall I had a very enjoyable experience.

Property was beautiful, the food and drinks were top-notch. Service was amazing. The lazy river surrounding the waterpark was very nice. Beach was well groomed and the hotel was well maintained and clean.

The steakhouse was the only let down compared to the other restaurants but it was still better than most other hotels.

The beach

1. Very large and spacious rooms with a huge, comfortable bed. The room was quiet and generally clean, with plenty of space to move around. The room had most of the necessary amenities; however, there was no kettle, so we had to go to the restaurant and bring hot water back in a thermos, which was not very convenient. 2. Good room amenities overall: having both an iron and a steamer was convenient. 3. The pool infrastructure is genuinely impressive — many different pools, pool bars, free towels everywhere, plenty of sunbeds, and decent water slides. 4. The Lazy River is the absolute highlight of the hotel. Floating on a tube, slowly circling the river, passing the bar and grabbing drinks along the way was genuinely fun, and we spent most of our pool time there. 5. Clean beach with beautiful sea and nice sand. The natural setting is pleasant, and it’s genuinely nice to spend time by the water. 6. About half of the staff were friendly, polite, and genuinely pleasant to interact with, especially around the pools and some service areas.

1. Very poor arrival experience. Without a reservation, we were not allowed to enter the hotel territory at all. We stood outside the gate with our luggage for around 40 minutes and were forced to make a Booking reservation on the spot just to be allowed in. For an expensive 5-star hotel, this felt unacceptable. 2. Security staff at the entrance was rude and dismissive at first. Their tone changed instantly only after we showed the booking confirmation, and instead of apologizing, they made inappropriate jokes about the situation. 3. At the front desk, the situation was completely ignored — no apology, no acknowledgment, as if nothing had happened. This left a very bad first impression. 4. The room, despite being large, felt worn for a hotel of this level: visible rust, tired condition, and a general lack of attention to maintenance. 5. The outdoor bathtub on the balcony was leaking badly. While we were using it, water flooded the room floor, and staff entered the room unexpectedly to deal with the issue. 6. One evening there was no cold water at all — only extremely hot water. 7. Food in the restaurants was bad. Not average — genuinely poor, especially considering the prices. The only place where food was more or less acceptable was the self-service breakfast area. 8. Desserts were even worse than the main food. Consistently disappointing across all restaurants and buffet areas, despite being widely available. 9. Beach access is unnecessarily split into zones. While there is a free beach area, it’s quite limited. There is also a premium zone with better sunbeds, and although it’s optional, the constant upselling of premium access (around $20) feels petty and unnecessary given the hotel’s overall pricing. 10. The other half of the staff felt indifferent or unhelpful, which created an inconsistent service experience overall.
