Best accommodation in Monterosso but located a distance from town.

A stunning heritage property overlooking the ocean

The walk down into Monterosso Old Town is a 20-25 minute hike, and a taxi from Monterosso costs 25 EUR to the door of the hotel. Budget for at least 2x taxis per day, and ensure you book a taxi for the evening in advance or risk not getting home. I would strongly recommend the property have more food options throughout the day and evening so guests can spend more time at the property and enjoy its amazing vista and ambience.

This place is paradise.

The setting was beautiful. The staff, especially Thisitha was lovely. It was the most the peaceful beautiful place I’ve ever been in my life. The entire property smells like jasmine. Our stay was a dream.

Transportation in the area in general is a bit tough. To get to Monterosso you either have to call a taxi or do a 30 minute hike down the mountain. But that’s normal for this area anywhere you stay. Next time I think we will try to spend more time enjoying the property thanks exploring Cinque Terre.

Good

Stunning view. Very characterful and historic property. Would make a picture perfect wedding venue. Helpful and friendly staff. A great place to stay in Cinque Terre away from crowds.

Our room was a little damp (maybe early in the season). And at breakfast, there was a problem with ants.

Beautiful, romantic, off the beaten Cinque Terre paths

If you are looking for a beautiful history rich place to wind down after exploring the crowded towns, you will love Eremo della Maddalena. Set above the crowd among olive groves and vineyards, it is beautiful with multiple courtyards and gardens that you can enjoy with complete privacy. It felt like … Tuscany! Our host, Tusita, was also the best!

The only downside is the distance from town. It is a 30 minutes downhill dirt trail hike to get into town and a 15 minutes taxi ride to get back. But it is precisely this distance that gives the place the tranquility and the spacious grounds.

So relaxing and tranquil. We hiked down the mountain path 1.5 km to get into town and back up. Some of the best views in the world.

Spectacular Stay!

My partner and I stayed at Eremo della Maddalena for 2 nights. The hotel host, Thusit, made us feel so incredibly welcome while we were there! He is so friendly and easy to talk to. The breakfast was also perfect! We loved the variety. The property itself is breathtaking! I can see why many people decide to get married there! We look forward to coming back soon and hope the Thusit is still the host!

We will be back!

The location is breath-taking. High in the hills above Monterossa al Mare but less than 15 minutes by car down to the village. As such it is a slice of heaven, well away from hustle and bustle of the Cinque Terre villages. The property is an old monastery with a 13thC chapel attached, the rooms are both rustic and tasteful. All in all - a magical place…

Exceptional

Every corner of this beautiful place, which was originally a monastery dating back to the 13th (might not be precise sorry!) century, is filled with love and care. This is a perfect place to forget about the mundane and escape into the nature. Extremely clean and aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for the hospitality Elisabetta and Roberta!

Everything was wonderful. The host was especially kind and efficient and went out of his way to make our stay memorable

Do not recommend coming to this place.

The family suite is basically two small rooms that the shower and toilet are outside of the area where the place staff has access and cannot be locked. The children sleep in a separate room and if they go out to the bathroom at night they may come across a local worker or another person who enters the complex Very unsafe for children and uncomfortable for adults The smell of sewage in the toilet and the shower and in two of the four nights we had no hot water when we returned at the end of the day The access road is unpaved, uncomfortable to drive and even dangerous

Cinque Terre Retreat

Stunning views down to Monterosso, beautiful building from the 13th century with very charming rooms. The host is very nice and helpful, she gave us many great tips to explore the area. There's a shuttle taking you to the town for a good price. Definitely the best and most special place to stay when coming to Cinque Terre.
