While I did request a ground floor room they did upgrade me to a much nicer room on the 5th floor. All good!

The staff were very polite when they greeted us on arrival. The location is very accessible with public transport, and a 5-min walk to Nanjing Fuxing station with train services every few minutes. Breakfast was below average by Western standard but may be sufficient for others. With breakfast staples like cereal, sausage and eggs, with Asian options like congee and stir-fried vegetables.
Upon checkout, we asked reception if we could leave our bags with the front desk for more than 24hr as we intended to go to Jiufen overnight. They were more than happy to oblige!
The room is... simple, but is let down by its poor natural light, soundproofing with a bathroom that could use a regrout or retiling from some mould buildup. And a musty smell. The bed was a bit too firm, and uncomfortable when you can feel the whole bed base move when one person gets up from the other side. We didn't get the best window view, as it faced towards a separate building, with little natural light and sounds from the street echoing through. If you're looking for something convenient for a couple nights, Simple+ is sufficient, but for long-term stays more than a week, I would look further out for something more spacious and reasonably priced.
