The hotel and the room were spacious, beautifully decorated, and exceptionally clean. The breakfast was absolutely excellent, with a great variety of options to suit every taste. I’ve also never seen a swimming pool this large at any other place. In other words, it was pretty much everything you would expect from a five-star resort. The staff were friendly and helpful when it came to arranging transportation and excursions. Say hi to Yuri for us!
Then, on to the downsides: the surrounding beach was undergoing erosion-control work by the local authorities, so it wasn’t possible to swim or spend time there. However, this had been clearly communicated in advance, the situation was reflected in the room rate, and the hotel provided free transportation to a Wyndham property about 5 km away, which had a beautiful pool and beach. This is only a temporary inconvenience and was handled very well, so I won’t let it affect my rating.
One thing that did stand out, however, was a clearly visible area of water damage to the laminate flooring in front of the balcony in our room. The boards were quite badly warped, apparently due to rainwater getting inside during a storm. In itself, this is perhaps a little nitpicky, but it stood out more than it otherwise might have because the room and the entire hotel grounds were otherwise pretty much the five-star standard you would expect from Marriott. And fixing that eyesore section of flooring surely wouldn’t have been a particularly big job.

A bit far away from everything. Although good shuttle bus service into Hoi An Old Town.

Down stairs and common parts were lovely
The bedroom was tired cupboards needed painting and there were no toiletries by the bath . Since the shampoo and other bottles were stuck to the shower cubicle there was little you could do.
