Sehr schön gelegenes, typisches 4*-Hotel, so wie man es erwartet. Highlight in Heilbronn.
Sehr nettes Personal.

Worst hotel experience ever
We booked a room for 2 adults and a baby so we asked for a crib for our daughter and the hotel confirmed the request for the crib. When we arrived late in the evening we saw there was no crib and told immediately the receptionist who said he would take care of it. After half an hour we went to the reception again only to find out that there were no cribs available (even if it was confirmed by the structure during the booking). The shocking thing is that the receptionist didn’t even bother to inform us and left us waiting half an hour for the non-existing crib. We had to leave the hotel at 11p.m with our baby girl still awake and crying. Worst experience ever.

Money oriented staff
The location.
The 1st night the air-condition in the appointed room was broken it was terribly hot and the staff didn't bother to do anything about it, nor finding any solution by moving us to another room, it was a terrible night that wasted our limited time in Germany. The weather was very hot. The second night there was another staff at the reception who acted in a professional way and did what must be done. Finally they moved us to another room although other rooms where available from the 1st night!!! But they wanted to charge us more because it was a superior room, and we explained to them that it is not our fault that the AC is broken in the booked room. I think a change or a training for some of the reception staff would do good for the hotel. I was really disappointed by their inability to be hospitable and meet the client basic needs or let's say the right for what he has paid for.

The Insel (Island) Hotel: Some Traditions Are Worth Keeping!
The Insel is an experience. The name means "Island" and it's on an island in the Neckar River, reachable by a bridge across a 19th-century lock. There is plenty of parking and even the subterranean level of the garage has unusually generous parking spaces. You take the elevator right up from the garage to the check-in desk. Right near check-in is a display of their famous house-made confection, their version of a Florentine, with milk chocolate and sliced almonds -- delicious. Heilbronn is a city with plenty of history despite having been largely flattened by British bombers in 1945 (6500 deaths). The old town hall and the medieval St. Kilian's Church have been lovingly restored. The hotel is right on Kaiserstrasse, a pedestrian main shopping street (only city train/tram traffic). The Insel has a lovely indoor pool with big glass doors to outdoor deck chairs, a unique feature is the pool lighting which constantly but slowly, unobtrusively, changes colors. And right outside the changing rooms is a spinning water extractor that gets your bathing suit all but dry before you return to your room! The Insel has two restaurants, the traditional one with Swabian (local) specialties and Blossom, a newly opened sushi restaurant. Both serve excellent food. There is a big sun terrace in front of the restaurants on which one can dine in good weather. The breakfast is lavish, an ample buffet, and they put carafes full of coffee on every table with milk and sugar ready to hand. There is also a hotel bar. The staff goes out of its way to make your stay a pleasant one. This is a family-run hotel with a long tradition, and worth a visit.
I stayed in mid-May, the temperatures were cool and by leaving the window cracked open and lowering the rolling shutters until they were almost closed (no one could see through them), I could sleep with plenty of fresh air. The Insel does have air conditioning but it was not turned on yet. Thus, if the weather had been warmer, I would have had trouble sleeping. Also, there was no small fridge in my room. But these are being phased out in most hotels because they are energy hogs. I would say my complaints are tiny ones and on the whole I felt very comfortable and at home at the Insel.
