The location was phenomenal. Snorkelling right from the beachfront. The staff were kind and generous, even offering to show the children how to make delicious smoothies. The fire show was breathtaking. Phi Phi Relax truly delivers on its name. Would come again in a heartbeat.

Despite having issues with the staff as a whole, there was a single member of staff, the receptionist on the main desk (younger lady with glasses and good English) who was extremely kind, helpful and professional. She saved our trip from disaster and we would like to give her a special mention.
The saving grace of the trip was the half-day tour the hotel offers. We were able to do this as part of our check-out, leaving from the site to visit Maya/Monkey Bay before being left at Phi Phi Pier. This was great value, very helpful and we got to explore Phi Phi quickly prior to departing. The Tour really was great and the guide was also. Excellent.
Unfortunately this simple wasn't the right hotel for us and we didn't enjoy it.
Firstly, the staff. We stayed in 7 hotels during our travels in Thailand and we were always blow away by the kindness, professionalism and willingness to aid with any issues...this wasn't the case at Phi Phi Relax. Perhaps it was a language problem, but staff never smiled, never said please of thankyou as we did, and things were just a lot less warm than we have experienced. Communication via messaging was very poor before we arrived and the attitudes when we were there were the same.
The isolated nature of the location really did come into play. I guess if you want true isolation and to be able to relax, it's not a bad thing. But as someone who wanted to to this, while also seeing the rest of Phi Phi, it simply wasn't. I would also add that if it is an isolated resort, you would hope it would be better than the rest of Phi Phi, but the opposite is true. The beach wasn't great and there was very little to do in the evening; while returning to the rest of Phi Phi in the evening was mission impossible.
Everything felt quite dated and the rooms in particular were very unsecure.
The door to our apparent didn't fully close, and we had to fill gaps with towels and push bags against the interior to keep closed. We were a little nervous about leaving any valuables within.
We also noticed the curtains didn't quite cover the windows, leaving you feeling quite exposed and visible in the bathroom.
