Traditional Malay kampong style housing, close to nature. Friendly staff.
I booked an air conditioned room for double the price of fan only rooms but the air conditioning isn’t really cooling, it’s working but even at the lowest temperature setting it’s not giving out much cool air.
The bath towels carry overly strong perfumes that are irritating to the lung and gave me coughs after I took them out and placed them in the room and slept for a few hours only to woke up with an itchy lung and coughs, eventually I had to open the windows, ventilate and remove the towels to the outside, and the coughs and itchiness stopped.
The horizontal metal bars entrance balcony are dangerously low that I bumped my head onto it, lucky the injury is minimal, but I lost balance at the impact.

The room was clean and comfortable. The main attraction, Pantai Cenang, is a little far from the location and costs around RM6–8 to reach by Grab. However, Pantai Tengah is within walking distance and is a beautiful, less crowded beach.
I wasn't a fan of the self-service concept. When travelling, it is nice to return to a fresh, clean room every day rather than having to do any cleaning. Although a broom was provided for the floor, there was no practical way to clean or change the bed sheets. Because of this, the self-service approach was not very appealing.
Another downside was the housekeeping policy. The bed sheets are only changed after staying at least three nights. It would have been much better if they were changed every two nights instead.
