This is an excellent stay! We arrived en route from Calais to the French Alps. Mine Host 'Frederick' couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The small very French hotel is nestled in a small village in walking distance from central Chaumont. (25 minutes in fact on safe roads) Sadly on the day we arrived (Monday) their restaurant is not open. No problem, there are many restaurants and fast food joints in easy reach. We went to Au Bereau, recommend by Frederick. The room was on the front looking out over the village square and was exceptionally clean, well equipped and quiet. The shower was wonderful after a long drive. Parking is safe and plentyfull. Our breakfast was wonderful. All fresh, home made and lots of it. Five Stars and a great place to use as a drop off en route across France. Special mention must be made of the Aquaduct in Chaumont. Massive and quite a photo opportunity!!!
