My review is a little unfair because we were there for the ski race in Zauchensee. Hotels were limited in Zauchensee and Booking listed this hotel. It looked nice but paramount was it is listed as only 7.6km from Zauchensee. It is not! It's closer to 18km, but 18km of mountain road, so a good 30/40 minute drive in snowy conditions. I don't know who is to blame (hotel or booking) but apparently, distances are listed 'as the crow flies'. What use that is to anybody.
We did book non refundable (100% our choice) and found out our new car had an engine warning light, and were advised not to drive the 1200 km round trip. I contacted the hotel and asked if they would consider my cancellation, which they refused point blank. So, as not to lose over €1000, we had to hire a car to make the trip.
Other than that, the staff were nice enough, breakfast was fresh and adequate for 3 days. The restaurant menu was limited. The room was nice enough, cleaned everyday. They have a small sauna area, but you have to get bathrobes from the reception, and return them there (a little strange).
