It’s always a pleasure to stay at The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Sanjo. For more than 14 years, it has always been my go-to place to stay in Kyoto.

Beds are comfy
Although the hotel is rated as 4-star, the facilities are very dated and definitely do not feel up to a 4-star standard. The room and overall facilities felt more like a 3-star hotel. Even the tap in my room was loose and clearly needed maintenance.
A refurbishment is definitely needed.

The property has a good location (but the location doesn’t outweigh the poor hotel conditions).
This hotel is very outdated, HORRIBLE beds, subpar cleaning (the shower had mold), gross carpeting, rooms so small you can barely move (and were used to Europe rooms).
