Cosy beds with a good design - big shelf next to the bed and socket for each bed. Plenty of lockable storage space for bags. Two large common areas. Close to several bus stops and bus lines (though Nis is quite walkable anyway). Around 10-15 minutes walk to the centre. The owners were quite friendly.
Too hot and the fan was not sufficient to make the room feel cooler. No reading light on each bunk. No salt or basic spices for the kitchen. The toilets and showers had a smell and some areas require maintenance but all were clean. Seemed to be not so many travellers and was not very social with the people that were there.

My second time here, excellent as always. Very friendly and helpful owner, best sleep I've had in a while. Clean and modern showers. The best hostel in Nis.

The hostel is nice, clean, beds are good. Was a little weird that I was alone in a 10 bed room, while I hear people in other rooms, but ok.
The issue was not the hostel itself, but rather the way the situation was handled. During check-in, the woman at reception kindly informed me that checkout was at 12:00. Since this is later than most hostels, I even repeated the time back to her to make sure I understood correctly. I trusted the information given to me and planned my morning around it.
The following day, while I was still in the room waiting for 12:00, a man who I assume was the owner entered and told me I needed to check out immediately. I politely mentioned that I had been told checkout was at 12:00, but instead of clarifying the misunderstanding professionally, he responded with a sarcastic laugh which to me implied that I was simply trying to stay longer on purpose.
What disappointed me most was not the confusion itself — misunderstandings happen everywhere — but the dismissive and accusatory way the situation was handled. The room was empty, I was not causing any inconvenience, and I had simply relied on the information I had been given by staff. A more respectful response would have made all the difference.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe professionalism and communication are especially important in a hostel environment, where guests expect a welcoming and respectful atmosphere. At the end of the day, we are all human, and anyone can make a mistake. I simply believe the situation could have been handled with far more understanding and respect.
