Great - would recommend you stay here

Fabulous stay at Thongbay. Stunning garden, so organised and delicious fresh breakfast delivered to your balcony every morning. Couldn’t fault it. Staff were friendly and pool was clean and perfect for hot weather. Everything is already thought out for you - ordering breakfast, towels for pool and excursions to waterfalls, information in room. Shuttle bus to and from town so handy and even got dropped off at the airport 10mins away. We checked out and had a bit of a wait before going to airport - were given another room to relax and freshen up on as we pleased. Excellent stay

Due to the bathroom being more open to the elements, some bugs/gekos manage to get into the bathroom but this is minor and didn’t not spoil our stay. Everything was so clean

Loved this Guesthouse

the Staff at this property are exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they helped us in every way. When you hire a motor bike you will be able to get to the old town in a few minutes otherwise a free shuttle is provided. The property has a beautiful swimming pool & some villas look over the Mekong river. Breakfast was delicious. When we go to Luang Prabang again we will definitely stay here.

The staff were very helpful all throughout our stay, especially the manager and he helped us organise trips. It was a beautiful location and excellent facilities. The breakfast had a good choice and was brought to our balcony so that we could eat it overlooking the river. There was also a wide range of food for lunch and dinner. The free shuttle bus to and from the town was very handy and convenient.

Beautiful but a bit too far out of town.

I had a lovely hut all to myself, great bathroom, lovely veranda, nice surroundings, swimming pool, breakfast and smoothies brought to me, and space for my travel washing line.

It was too far out of town. Yes, there is a shuttle bus but the last one collects you at 9.30pm. It’s like being collected from a party by your dad when you’re 13. Yes, you can get a tuk tuk but the gates close at 10pm and then you have to call out! It’s just a bit too far to walk comfortably especially as Googlemaps doesn’t show the location reliably.

Excellent guest house, great amenities including swimming pool, extremely helpful staff.

Excellent location overlooking the Nam Khan River, Beautiful gardens added to the ambience of this place. Whilst some distance away from Luang Prabang centre, the guesthouse lays on a free shuttle service including airport pick up. A choice of delicious breakfasts served very punctually on balcony of individual guestrooms. Lovely swimming pool. All the staff were extremely friendly, so welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful.

The staff was not only extremely kind and professional but also very welcoming and helpful. We felt like part of the family. The accomodation was super clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent especially with the view to the river. The free transfer from the airport and to the center is really appreciable. We would highly recommand Thongbay to everyone and will come back there when we will come to luang Prabang. Thank you so much !

World's nicest staff in a gorgeous setting

Can't say enough about how wonderful the staff are!!! Seriously so amazing making sure that we were happy and comfortable and taken care of. From the moment we were welcomed with juice and cake, to the ride to the almsgiving ceremony that the owner gave us when the tuk-tuk failed to show at 5:30am, to the totally above and beyond, even driving me to the clinic when I sustained a minor injury, and then insisting on staying with me while I got it treated. The home cooked breakfasts served on our private balcony each morning were delicious. The setting is a lush garden on the river that feels like an oasis. The rooms (all private huts) are large and comfortable and beautifully decorated. Loved loved loved our stay here! Would enthusiastically recommend.

Nothing really! It's a bit far from the centre of town, but tuk-tuks are cheap and the hotel runs regular free shuttles. The WiFi was hit or miss, but in those beautiful surroundings, who cares? The noise carries a bit from the karaoke bars along the river, but it ends relatively early. Honestly I wouldn't change a thing.

A must stay in Luang Prabang.

This is the best guesthouse I've stayed in during all my travels. The hosts and staff are amazing and it feels like you're staying with family. They helped me to arrange all of my trips and gave me lots of tips for places to visit / eat around the city. They also provide a shuttle bus to the city at a range of times in the morning and evening, so you don't need to bother with tuktuks or taxis. The location is really peaceful and quiet, and even if you don't get a river view room there is a terrace over looking the river for all guests to use. I will definitely be staying here again when I come back to Luang Prabang.

Peferct place

I couldn't recommend this hotel more. From start to finish my family and I had a wonderful stay at the Thongbay guest house. Some of the plus points for this hotel were as follows. .Extremely helpful and friendly staff .Beautiful rooms .Comfortable beds .Free Taxi service to town and airport. .Location was perfect. .Delicious breakfast severed to room or by the Mekong River. I would definitely recommend this place to a family, couple or even single traveler that's looking for peace and complete relaxation.

Getting breakfast served on our balcony each morning at a time of our choosing was an unexpected treat. The staff were friendly and helpful, the riverside view was beautiful and the bungalow was very clean. We have already recommended the guesthouse to friends and family.

Very good

Really nice to have breakfast brought to our room each morning and to be able to sit on our own balcony to eat it. Very quiet location with a river view and lovely green grounds. Staff were very pleasant. Free drinking water supply to refill bottles.

More frequent shuttle buses into town. Better lighting in the room.
