Grab the family and drive your four wheel drive type vehicle to the edge of the pavement, shift into that four wheel drive or the AWD that you don't use enough, and set out for your family adventure up the beautiful sandy coast of eastern North Carolina. Experience the beach like it used to be for our great grandparents, wide open and free. **WARNING; After coming to this beach, every other beach you visit in your life will probably feel "crowded"** This area is also home to multiple bird sanctuaries and home to the wild Corolla horses, North Carolina's official state horses. These horses are believed to be descendants of wild mustangs brought over from Europe many, many years ago. They are absolutely beautiful animals and roam the area at will. Note: We hate added fees that some houses like to add at the end. We have heard from our past guests that they also hate these fees. Please keep that in mind when comparing houses. Linens, maintenance, cleaning, pool, and pet fee are already included. No nickle and diming here. We also rent Saturday to Saturday in the summer (May to September) so we can help as many families as possible enjoy the beach. Our house is located about 7 miles up the coast from the end of the pavement along one of the widest areas of beach in the area. We chose this lot because it is highly elevated and gives great ocean views from all decks. When you arrive at the house you will enjoy all the modern amenities of today plus some. This elevated semi-oceanfront (one lot back) home features eight bedroom (4 Master King Ocean view bedrooms, 2 Master Queen Ocean view Bedrooms, 2 Duo bunk Bedrooms). There will be no fighting over bathrooms as every room has its own master bath. (This saves so much tension when travelling with extended family or friends. We included this when custom designing the house as I believe this is a must have.) All the king and queen rooms also have direct access to deck with ocean views. ( Another must have with large groups. ) The sunrise is literally just outside your door. The large kitchen will make any Chef smile with joy with an over sized double oven, two dishwashers, two refrigerator/freezers and a wine fridge. Two icemakers for those frozen drinks also. When is the last time you cooked and had views of the Atlantic Ocean just out the window? No better coffee brewing view around:) The dining room is very well sized with seating for the entire family with windows that allow you to watch the sunset over the woodlands to the west. Bring some popcorn, because the kids will absolutely enjoy movie night with the family in your own personal big screen theater room. It can get pretty intense and loud though if watching sporting events. Mom and dad will love having the private pool and hot tub to relax in with the family without worrying about sharing it with anyone else. No community pool here! This house was built with the sole purpose of making family memories that last. The beach is a short walk down an unimproved easement directly in front of the house or we always hop in the car and tailgate for the day. Hanging out at the beach with the family is sooo much fun. There is some limited parking for a family member or two that do not have a four wheel drive vehicles for a nominal charge about 8 miles from the house. The beach and house are also very pet friendly. We absolutely hate pet fees and don't charge extra to bring you canine family member. Sorry, but no cats allowed. Please note all maintenance and cleaning fees are included. Once you visit, we truly believe you will be back like many of our previous guests. Even if you do not rent our house, you need to experience this area sometime in your life. We would love to help you with your vacation fun.

It was nice to see the wild horses on several occasions.

We enjoyed seeing the horses and just being on the beach, letting the kids fly kites and find seashells. We had a great time and we loved every minute.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house had everything we needed. The host (Tracy) is really nice. She gave us a bunch of information of things to do and places to see.the location is great having to drive the beach to get to the property. Plenty of horses just walking around. It was very quiet hardly any people.I’m sure there’s a lot more going on in the summer. Overall we would do this trip again

It was an absolute wonderful week. For late October the weather was amazing. Everyone loved having their own bathroom. The wild horses visited the yard at least 3 different days. They were so beautiful. We walked on the beach every sunrise and we went on a couple moonlite walks too.

We had such a great time and enjoyed the ease of having everything you need. Our week had so many days of nice weather that we got to spend a lot of time on the beach, which was conveniently close to the house. As the description mentions, you have amply space to spread out. Tracy was great to work with and made checking in and out a breeze. The memories we made during our stay will last a lifetime, but hope that it won’t be our last visit to Carova Beach!

We had 13 people vacationing here. From when I clicked “book” on the VRBO app, to checkout everything was smooth and seamless. Tracy is very responsive and helpful with all questions and requests we couldn’t ask for a better host.The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals for a large group,and the dining room is perfect. Everyone can gather for meals and there’s an adorable little children’s picnic table in the dining area that my grandchildren loved! Having an onsuite in each bedroom is great! We enjoyed seeing the horses almost daily, it’s a short walk to the beach but the beach drive is unforgettable. The house is just awesome I cannot say enough how perfect this home is for a family vacation,I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

The Cove Corova Beach is a 9 bedroom house with a movie room, private pool and jacuzzi, huge kitchen, and wrap around balconies on both floors. We absolutely loved the movie room (seats 14) and the huge jacuzzi. The kitchen was also very nice with double refrigerators and dishwashers. This house has plenty of room for a large family or group of friends. There were a few drawbacks such as the pool is not heated (we traveled in October). We really couldn't use it, the water was too cold for our liking. The wifi signal was pretty weak as well, I would suggest bringing your favorite movies on dvd as opposed to streaming. Lastly the water is well water, the host does provide 5 gallons in the cooler but if you have a large party you should definitely bring plenty of drinking water. The area has quite a few things to see and do, but you must rent a 4x4 vehicle for travel up and down the beach. I repeat a 4x4 vehicle is necessary to stay at this location. Overall we had a wonderful time and definitely recommend staying here.

The thoughtful design that went into this home made it perfect for our group of 9 adults If the weather didn't cooperate, the house did!
The owner and management company were available and assisted us with any questions/needs without hesitation (we arrived during TS Ophelia!).

The house size , location was perfect for our family! the area is beautiful, I mean it’s on the beach can’t get any better than that. The pool and hot tub was a huge plus and the owner Tracy was great to work with. Oh I can’t say enough about the horses , go to their website and take a look. I def. Recommend and will be back some day.
The only advice I truly can give is 4wd period. From beach access to the house is a long way
We rented a awd , Chevy equinox and got stuck 2x on the beach driving to town. It is a low sitting SUV and the beach ruts get BAD on the beach … so I suggest only a 4wd that sits higher so it can navigate those.
Then again when we was leaving out but this time literally had to be towed out thank goodness we did have a 4wd truck along with us.

We rented this house with family for a quiet beach vacation and it was perfect for that! The house was in a perfect spot for beach access and so easy to pack up the little ones and just drive right over. The house was clean, organized and the pool was perfect. The owner was also very responsive to the few questions we did have. The wild horses came by often and were so amazing to see in their natural habitat. As for the drive on the beach, that is a real adventure! We followed the advice of the owner and had no issues. It is quite an enjoyable experience, after the first time haha. Our only complaint was that the rising tides from the hurricane cut our vacation at bit short but nobody can help that, the weather was otherwise wonderful. Overall it was a great stay and we would be happy to return in the future.

We want to first thank the Home Owners so much for letting us stay in their Beach House it was absolutely perfect for our whole family!!! There was 20 of us and so much space!!! We had such a perfect vacation with so many blessed memories!!! The pool and hot tub we used everyday!!! Played cards and watched movies and popped popcorn along with so many laughs!!! We got to see lots of wild horses even up by the Beach House and down by the beach so gorgeous!!! Saw dolphins swimming!!! Walking along the beach finding shells and sea glass along with jellyfish and tiny crabs and even found a sand dollar!!! There were lots of people there but you barely notice a single person due to such a large area of beach!!! The driving right on the sand with the windows down hearing the waves was so peaceful and extremely fun!!! This vacation was definitely Paradise on Earth!!! We definitely will be staying again!!! More then 5 STARS!!!

However, we definitely got spoiled with coming back and jumping in the pool after a day at the beach. I don’t think we’ll ever rent somewhere that doesn’t have a pool anymore- so relaxing and the water was beautiful.
We went crabbing, surf fishing, shopping, golfing and enjoyed exploring the town a few times.

This property gave us everything we wanted in a beach home. We had 8 adults and 7 kids under 5. There was plenty of space for everyone to be together for dinner and in the family room but also room for everyone to have some downtime during the afternoons and evening. Having a pool on site was a nice bonus, the kids loved it. The movie theater was an added bonus! The drive to the beach was quick and super convenient to bring all the beach supplies. The walk to the beach took less than 10 minutes as well. Overall, a great family vacation.

My husband has always wanted to vacation in OBX. We found this home and felt it would accommodate all of our children and grandchildren. We had 17 in the house and had room for everyone.
We saw the horses everyday and were able to easily walk to the beach. We used one vehicle to take the chairs and cooler. Would recommend ordering extra water. We went through 7.

Amazing house exactly as advertised! There were 19 people and we didn’t feel cramped. The weather did not cooperate with us but we made the most of the property. Playing games around the table and watching tv by the gas fireplace are what fond memories are made of. Excellent communication with the property owner. The property was very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend.

This house is everything and more. Tracy has thought of everything you could possibly need. We way over packed because if we needed something it was there. It is the perfect spot. You're probably not going to walk to the beach even if you stay at a house on the beach, the walk is still long and if you pack a cooler, lawn chairs, Kites and umbrellas you will want the truck to haul it all. We loved that we all felt safe and we were even able to leave our things at the pool with no worries. The horses are amazing and will be in the yard several times, even come right out the brush and scare you when taking the dogs out, they are not fazed by the dogs or humans. Do not hesitate to rent this house it is perfect. Everything we used worked with no issues. The pool is not heated but it was warmer than the ocean, we had a few pool volleyball games and a badminton game and were able to float around. we had 13 adults all family members and no complaints from anyone. I hope you rent and enjoy your stay!

We drove from Mass to stay at this beach house for a week. Upon arrival, we were absolutely impressed. The home had every amenity that you could think of! We LOVED seeinf the wild horses every day in our driveway and yard. We also were able to have our 2 furbabies vacation with us, a Golden Retriever snd a Choc Newfie. They LOVED the beach and seeing the horses. We will definitely be back again and highly recommend to everyone!

We had such a good time at Crystal Cove! We saw horses, we spent so much time on the beach, we all ate dinner together and played board games, and hot tubbed, and jumped in the pool and watched a movie like we were in a movie theater. My family all agreed, we would definitely go back! The house was very comfortable and had amazing views!

The house and area was awesome. The most relaxing vacation we have every had. Having the 2 refrigerators and 2 dishwashers was wonderful for the amount of people we had. Everyone in our party would definitely go back again.

My family stayed here the last week of March. We had almost all ages represented, from 10 to 72. The house was set up perfectly for our family, and we loved that we could have our own corner of the house, with our own showers, and privacy when we needed it. We spent most of our time at the beach fishing and playing, as well as searching for the wild horses, which led to some lifelong memories. I can't think of any other place in the country where you can lounge on the deck watching wild horses with an ocean backdrop. The kids, both young and old, swam and lounged in the hot tub every day. Every night we played board games, and those who wanted to hung out in the cinema room for the nightly movie. Bring an air popper for popcorn, it makes the experience even better.
Check-in / check-out was easy, and Tracy was great. He offered very helpful information to make our stay pleasant, and we felt we had all the privacy we wanted. If planning to go, I cannot understate the importance of a 4x4 vehicle. Driving six miles on the beach is a unique experience. You will enjoy it with 4x4, you will feel stressed without it.
For us, the plan was to bring three generations together for quality time. This house was the vacation, and it did not disappoint.

This property was amazing. There were 3 families that came together for this vacation and we all had space to hang out within our own smaller units or all come together. The rooms were nice and spacious and if there was a single selling feature for this house it would be the bathrooms alone. Every room has its own private bathroom attached. AMAZING. The drive on the beach was SO FUN. The kids absolutely loved the adventure of it alone. Just a note- you absolutely need four wheel drive. We used it regularly. We had kids ranging from 2 years old to 14 years old and they all had an absolute blast. Tracey (and family) had supplied the house with all sorts of toys and entertainment for all ages. They were also great at all communication, including some local sights and experiences we really enjoyed! Our entire experience was amazing and we can not wait to go back. A couple of useful points that we discussed once we had actually experienced it all: 1) At first I was discouraged that the house wasn't on the beach. However, it ended up being perfect because we didn't have to worry about the kids running out the door and being in the middle of the traffic on the beach. If I was booking again immediately it would be a criterial for us NOT to be the house directly on the beach. 2) the beach drive is approx 8 miles, however depending on the tide it could take 45 minutes to get there. Get all supplies on your way in. Especially if you're getting in later in the day. Luckily for us we all were coming in staggered times so we just called and asked someone else to grab it. 3) I assume this is the policy for the cleaning services of the house - and its just a quirk that would've been good to know- but there are no trash bags, toilet paper, soap (for dish washer or laundry) on the premise. We were thinking there might be enough for a single night so you could run back into town but there wasn't. No issue for us, but good to know if you're all coming in at the same time as there is no "quick trip" back into town. But with the beach drive being so fun, you might purposely forget something anyways! ;) 3) the kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils. Which is amazing if you're staying in and cooking! We even made homemade donuts with the kids and it was such a precious memory. There is not a single negative thing about the vacation. It was all so much fun and such a blessing to have an amazing space to get to experience it in. So don't hesitate, book the house!

This is a beautiful home in a great location! Very easy to get to the beach. We had horses come to visit daily. Loved the large family room, kitchen and dining room! Definitely a lot of space for large groups. So nice that every bedroom has its own bathroom. It was a bit chilly so it was nice to end our days warming up in the hot tub!
The house could use a deep cleaning. Which I believe will be happening in the off season!
We will return, maybe in the summer for our next trip.

This is a beautiful home in a great location! Very easy to get to the beach. We had horses come to visit daily. Loved the large family room, kitchen and dining room! Definitely a lot of space for large groups. So nice that every bedroom has its own bathroom. It was a bit chilly so it was nice to end our days warming up in the hot tub!
The house could use a deep cleaning. Which I believe will be happening in the off season!

Beautiful home, very warm and peaceful. Excellent communication by the owners. The beach is stunning, even in the middle of November:) The cleanliness factor could be improved to match the beauty of the home. It’s the details that matter when you’ve traveled through the night many hours. Windows need a good washing to be able to view the ocean, and sheets were very clean, but were not put on the bed. It was the last thing I wanted to do, but overall, this is a very pleasant home with kind owners. Would definitely come again.

Me and my husband visit car9va Beach every October, this year we brought our 6 month old for his first vacation along with my mother my husband parents my aunt cousin and a few friends with a 5 year old so we had a variety of different people and this home was perfect for every single person! Even with the left 9vers of a hurricane we had a great time! The weather wasn't the best we did get 2 really good days towards the end of the week but even with the weather our vacation was perfect. The movie theater was a big hit with a lot of the adult and with the 5 year old! The dining room table was big enough for all of us to eat our meals together the bedrooms are all plenty big enough and its great how most of the bedrooms have a view of the ocean which by the way watching the sun rise over the beach is amazing and everyone should experience it! We really appreciated having an ice machine at the house! There was some issues with the wifi due to the storm but the owner of the property did a great job keeping us updated of course when it was fixed was out of his control. The horses visited every single day including one of the babies and every year im no less amazed than the year before! If we have another large group come next year we will be returning to this home for sure!
