There was a nice open air restaurant in the back.
It took a long time to have someone to great us and give us the room key.

The staff were wonderful and accommodating. They even kindly messaged me after we had checked out apologising for missing an opportunity to say goodbye as we left very early hours for a morning flight. Highly, HIGHLY recommend

The patio is very nice for eating, drinking and chatting (see what I didn't like!) but please take some mosquito spray for arms and legs whilst sitting out there.
My bedroom was perfectly adequate for a 2-night stay although being at the top of the first floor flight of stairs meant everyone passed my bedroom!! I thought the mattress was quite comfy!! Bathroom was fine although I had to hold the shower nozzle cos it wouldn't go in the holder. Toilet worked as it should do!! Toilet door didn't close properly - once I realised I could see people on the patio, so if I could see them........!!!!
Clean towels and bed made for me!! Little bit of luxury!!
They accept dogs in the hotel which is ALWAYS a BIG PLUS for someone who travels with my dog.
Super off-road parking within the hotel grounds. Another great plus!!

Arbucies is not a very big town so it is ideally placed for the lovely riverside walks which are not far away. If you are more adventurous, there are lots of hills and mountains to walk/run/cycle up and down!!
The hotel is vintage, classic, quirky or just plain outdated!!! It's a 1950s hotel that hasn't really moved with the times.
For example, there is no lift so I'm not sure how disabled people would manage getting to the rooms. Meant I had to lug all my tut up and down the stairs, plus dog!! (Yes, I am a lazy so and so!!)
Don't know if there is a public disabled toilet but I needed to be Houdini to get in and out of the public loo downstairs!! Spent ages fumbling for the light switch - next day I realised the light was actually on, so dim was it!!
The kitchen is based at the bottom of the stairs so all of the banging and clanking that goes on in a hotel kitchen can be heard up the stairs!! Certainly for me in Room 125!!!
I did have a major problem getting to sleep on the first night because there were people chatting on the terrace until 6 IN THE MORNING!! I did complain at 2 in the morning and had hoped the situation would have been resolved. But it wasn't. I did complain to reception the next day and the matter was resolved TO MY COMPLETE SATISFACTION by the management of the hotel so THANK YOU FOR THAT. My second night's sleep was perfect in comparison to the first. However, it was a situation that should never have happened and certainly soured my visit as I was exhausted the following day and was not looking forward to going to bed the next night. But hey ho, I can look back and laugh at it now!!
