The pub/hotel is fantastic. Dale the landlord is phenomenal and could not have been a better host. All the staff are brilliant, as is the food, the room, everything.
I cannot think of anything that I didnt like.

Ideal for a recent visit to Highclere Castle

The property is a typically quaint English pub. It is a great location for visiting Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey). We were able to walk to it from the property(approximately 30 minute walk) but taxis are available as well.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the accommodation very clean and lots of snacks in the room for purchase. It was also very peaceful to sleep in. The food was delicious both dinner and breakfast. The only thing I would mark down for was when we finished our evening meal we waited 30 minutes before anyone came to remove plates/ask for dessert/more drinks. They weren’t overly busy so can’t give them that as an excuse. All in all though I would highly recommend and if ever in the area again I would choose to stay there.

Near to the castle and they gave us a nicer room!
The menu was very poor, they hadn't changed the menu online and we had already chosen what we wanted! Poor choice and expensive! Drinks very expensive too! £35.50 for a bottle of Rose! Won't return x
