Such a warm welcome from the staff. Special thanks to both Gonçalo Ferreira and Loredana Carreira who made us feel such valued clients as soon as we arrived , shared local knowledge and suggestions of places to visit, it was very clear they enjoyed their jobs and wanted to ensure we as guests had the best experience. The staff were very friendly and kind, and the breakfast was excellent - there was a lot of variety and a great selection of food, including bread, croissants, different cakes, fruit, cereal, teas & coffee. There was air con in the room, which was a nice bonus (and much needed!).
It said on the site that there was a gym and sauna, but they were both closed/out of service when we arrived. Our room - although clean - was smelly, which I found unpleasant. It smelt like stale cigarette smoke and no amount of leaving the windows open got rid of the smell. The walls are also very thin: we heard a couple having an argument next door at midnight one night. We also had a leak in the bathroom, so after a shower there was water all over the floor. We mentioned it to the staff, but no action was taken (but they were friendly about it). It was one of the cheaper places to stay, so I didn't expect somewhere amazing, but at very least I expected to have a room without a horrible smell (especially because neither my husband nor I are smokers).
