Great experience, well worth the money! The restaurant at dinner is honestly beautiful. The staff are brilliant as well - they were all waiting for us outside before we arrived which is a nice touch. Excellent hospitality and the shuttle bus is useful too.

Great location for a relaxing time after the overwhelming popularity of Kyoto. Great service, lovely team here.
Only the room WiFi, which didn’t but my eSIM worked fine. The public Onsen was a little small so book a private one.

We enjoyed the private onsen and gender separate onsen baths. The meals provided were good, traditional Japanese meal. The property provided transportation from the nearest subway stations for arrival and departure for no extra cost. The staff were superb, very kind and handled any request needed. We were able to easily book a 45 minute private onsen experience for my partner and I to enjoy together. We both used the separate gender baths as well and they were enjoyable.
The property is dated. We understand we came for a traditional Japanese experience, the bathroom in our room was very old and the bathtub was missing tile and didn’t look appealing enough to use for a soak. You do sleep on a futon on the floor, which if you have any back problems will not be ideal.

This was our first ryokan experience. The staff was very helpful and rushing to be of service! We communicated through broken Japanese and broken English but it worked. The private onsen was lovely and very hot. We enjoyed the view!
Now that we have had a bit more experience with traditional Japanese food and onsen, looking back at this ryokan we found it kind of disappointing.
The rooms were quite old and we never considered taking a shower after seeing how dirty it was. We washed in the private onsen that we booked, since there is a shower up there too.
The dinner and breakfast experiences were definitely the worst. The food had a traditional style but we had no explanation other than “fish” or “mountain vegetables”. The tempura was cold and soggy. The miso soup also tasted very strange compared to endless other miso soups we have eaten since. We went into this with an open mind and expected something unusual, but this food definitely was the worst to do it with for the first time. Even the oily broth duck tempura was so bad we couldn’t eat it. Everything was barely warm, but in a way that made us think it had been lying around for a few hours.
