I appreciated the warm welcome and introduction to the traditional accommodations, including instructions on how to use the water heater for tea, schedule time in the bath and how to wear the Yukata provided. My stay was during a rainy time in the city, so I really looked forward to the baths at the end of the day. Even in rain, the neighborhood was alive with people walking the streets in kimonos while shopping and eating in the many cafes. The breakfasts were wonderful. The whole experience added to my appreciation of Japanese hospitality and I was sorry that I couldn't stay longer.
I have no complaints at all.

What was there not to like? I was looking for their recommendations on where to propose to my fiancé and they simply told me to do it there and upgraded our room to the top floor with a view of the Yasaka Pagoda. They even included a bottle of champagne to celebrate. Any question we had, they had an answer. Giving private access to the bath, the private breakfast, all of it was superb. If you ever want to go off the beaten path and find more local eateries, just speak with the staff and they will lead you in the best direction.
The only thing I didn’t like was that we had to leave.
