This must be my eighth stay at Au Tonnelier. Which should tell you that I really like and trust the Hotel to meet my expectations. It's right in the centre of the historic and pretty town of Bergues, a former port and fortified border strong-point. The Hotel is a perfect example of a fast disappearing genre of dependable French country town Hotels. The welcome is warm and helpful, the rooms clean, well furnished and with good hot water for showers and the restaurant serves high quality local produce in traditional local dishes. Bergues is a great entry and exit point, 30 mins from Dunkirk and under an hour from Calais and the tunnel means that a quieter late afternoon crossing can be enjoyed knowing your first night is near at hand. Similarly, arriving tired from a long cross-country journey on the evening before your departure, Au Tonnelier guarantees a calm and comfortable last night and a stress free run to the Channel with the rest of the day to make it home. And the clincher? All this comes at a most reasonable cost. Well done Au Tonnelier, and thank-you once again

The town second town visiting the same hotel and Village
Shower was broken, host was rude booking.co says 13pm check in she was rude and hostile she said 3pm . Room was ok shutters in the bedroom but bathroom has window n the bedroom but bathroom doesn’t have shutters, absolutely crap night sleep on lays day of our trip really spoilt it
