This history and the private onsen.
The dinner and breakfast were beautiful. I'd say that some of the foods were not to our liking but purely due to our western tastes. There was also an incredible amount of mushrooms.

Amazing staff that catered to every need or question.
The hotel hot spring baths were lovely especially the outdoor baths
Our extras like private dining and private spa were well worth the reasonable extra cost
Large comfortable Japanese style ( mats, futon bed, low furniture) were very comfortable
Not much. It’s been a while since rooms and comb spaces have been renovated but that really didn’t matter.

Everything about it. The onsens are fantastic. We took the private spa and it was great as well. The futons are very comfortable and the food was interesting and tasty.
The AC in the room wasn’t enough. It was a sunny day so the room was too hot inside and the AC wasn’t that fresh.

Kaiseki dinner was great as they took a lot of efforts to prepare real veg dinner including no dashi. This effort was commendable. Of, course hot spring indoor area was 100 years old wooden structure and was a unique experience.
