Likuri Island Resort Fiji

Likuri island was lovely- the sand and grass were soft, hammocks scattered about provided relaxation, the accommodation was clean and comfortable, the beach water clear and free from rubbish. Unlike other islands we have been on, there weren’t any shells to step on and there wasn’t any smell of sewerage. The staff were lovely and we really enjoyed the activities that they had to offer- the fire show and traditional dancing being the highlight. The food was reasonably priced if you skipped the buffet and bought from their ala carte menu. Overall, beautifully thought out with almost everything you could need.

Unfortunately, the villa that we stayed in had bed bugs. The staff were accommodating in getting us a new room but did not offer anything further. The staff also did not warn visitors of the risks of sting rays when it was breeding season and apparently a higher risk at low tide. We were only told not to swim in the water at low tide once my fiancé has been stung despite staff watching many swimmers in the water, including children. This information should have been explained on arrival and should be provided to all visitors to avoid being stung, particularly as they stated this happens approximately every 3 months on the island. It was also disappointing that during this incident, the staff were too busy asking for money when we needed help. My fiancé had to be taken to Nadi Hospital for treatment as he was in extreme pain following the sting. I arranged for an unscheduled boat, and the staff had me stuck at the counter with a non working eftpos terminal because they needed me to pay an additional $110 fjd (not including the 3% card fee) on top of what we had already paid for our transfer. While we appreciate the initial first aid efforts provided and that there was an option for unscheduled transfer, I felt that the resort staff should have taken on more responsibility, particularly as I cleaned the wound and applied the dressing, arranged for a taxi at the jetty etc. On another note, the snorkelling off the boat had poor visibility, bleached coral and not much marine life. That being said, you can find fish just off of the island beach so wasn’t an issue for us. Lastly, the price for drinks and the buffet was expensive.

The staff were amazing, the location was beautiful, all round wonderful trip.

The staff were friendly and the food was good. The room was spacious and we enjoyed the outdoor shower. The location was beautiful.

Unfortunately the weather had been stormy before we arrived so the ocean was murky and not pleasant to swim in. The ladder for the pool was loose and I smacked my shin when it shifted. The pool itself needs some repairs to maintain it.
