A beautiful and quiet place removed from the more party like atmosphere of Chamonix. The food and service were exceptional and it was so much fun to get here!!!! Lots of beautiful hikes in the area.
Was probably due to the heatwave when we were there (mid July) - there were a lot of flies in the dining areas which we had to swat away whilst eating.

The location is exceptional, and once the last train leaves for Chamonix, it's such a peaceful spot. The views out every window are incredible. The building is gorgeous.
I contacted the hotel ahead of time and explained what a special trip this was to be for my 10 year old son, as we live in a country with no snow and he has been dreaming about this. I also informed them ahead of time that we are vegetarian. In spite of this, none of the staff made any effort even so much as to speak to my child. And the meal was a disaster, the options they gave for children were mostly meat and very limited and I was treated as though I was expecting something exceptional, when it had been clearly communicated ahead of time. We tried the fondue but the bread was almost inedible and the cheese was so rich even I couldn't eat more than three bites and I usually love fondue. He went to bed hungry since there is nowhere else to obtain food up there. There are hotels that are clear about not welcoming children, but this was not the case here. The impression I had was that we were a hassle, though the hotel was pretty empty mid week in January. As beautiful as the place was, we would not go there again. It was all couples besides us, and I think that would work a lot better.
