La Veranera, Playa El Coco

Small and very quiet property with direct access to a beautiful beach, nice pool area and a good small menu with fresh products for lunch and dinner.

The cleanliness - our bedroom hadn’t been properly cleaned (hair everywhere in the shower, in the toilet, and on the ground + dust everywhere), and neither was the place in general (kitchen, living room). The overall state of the place was also not ideal: window frames and furniture were also pretty old and with stains. When we checked in we had to expressly ask for towels and a bath mat. Given the price, those issues should be adressed.

Friendly helpful staff! Great breakfast to start the day. The beach is literally right outside your door! Nice pool, that we didn’t use as the beach was so close!

Arrived during the night, and very dark, a lit sign would’ve been very helpful!

It was our first night in Nicaragua, we’d just crossed the border and the manager helped us with arranging a shuttle (who also got us across the border quicker). The staff were warm, kind and helpful, they made a special vegetarian & gluten free meal for us as we couldn’t have anything on the menu. There’s drinks available at the place and a place to have lunch beside the property. We didn’t have a car so it was good for 2 nights. Beautiful location at a quiet beach with a view of the sunset. The pool was great as well, with places to chill and sit and good if you love cooling off without getting salty + a shower (great after the ocean. Big room with a large and comfortable bed.

Only a cold shower available in our en suite, for this price I’d expect a warm shower. Our en suite room was located next to the kitchen and you could hear everything, as the staff cooks breakfast and dinner there.

Location is great. Directly on the beach. Most other beaches in the area can only be reached by motor or a strong (4wd) car.

5 star price for 2.5 star hotel. Room was dark, very little light, the blinds could not be opened, no hot water, no standard change of towels or sheets during stay, food was very mediocre, staff passive, reactive and did not engage. The place feels like it has had its best days. Doorknob falling off, shower curtains dropping. My room was close to kitchen, noisy. This is all par for the course here in Nicaragua, but then you pay half of what you pay here and expect far less.
