The location, views and access to interesting places like Grazalema, Zahara and Setenil was very good. The room was quite spacious with lovely views and a terrace. The bed was comfortable and there was a fridge, although no glasses or even paper cups. The location is very quiet. and peaceful.
The breakfast was acceptable, but no hot food. There was frequently a problem about restocking eg croissants, and utensils eg glasses.
The evening meals were excellent, although a bit expensive.
For our departure morning I had made a mistake about breakfast time but they arranged it 45minutes earlier than usual, which helped to counter some of our negative impressions.
A number of problems. The most annoying was the long wait for each course of the evening meal. For our last night we arrived at the start at 7 30pm, but it was almost 9 30 when we finished. As there was perhaps a dozen diners, so we thought it would be better than 2 previous nights with a large group. There was enough waiting staff so presumably a problem in the kitchen.
We had hoped to have a dip in the heated indoor pool shown in the pictures. Booking.com lists "spa" in first list of facilities.
However it is shown on another list as being charged for. At €57 for 1hour it was not for us. Our room (23) was opposite the stairs leading to the pool and I was not aware of anyone going down there during our 4 days.
We had several problems in the bathroom. The pop-up plug did not work. I reported it the first morning. No one came so I reported it again the next day. A man came to fix it but didn't have the necessary washer. At my suggestion he removed it entirely so I could fit one of the spare plugs I always carry with me. He also repaired the towel rail which I had also reported as having partly fallen off.
The shower was unsatisfactory, basically too big. It had central sliding doors, quite hard to move. From the shower in the middle of the wall it is too far to reach the hand rail on the left, but also too far to reach the basket for soap etc on the right.
For my wife, who has mobility problems it was difficult to use.
The TV remote was damaged and we had to ask for a replacement.
From 10 30am until 7 30pm the restaurant is closed. This closes off the way to the reception and lounge and one has to go outside and then back in again. An added frustration when one goes to report a problem to reception and there is no-one there.
The lounge is a pleasant place to sit. We sat there to play cards. After a short while a number of people came in. We were then asked to leave as the room had been booked for an hour by the group. No advance...
