Worst, Do not opt for this hostel

Bathroom and toilet not clean. There is no room with attached bathroom and toilet.

Excellent location and staff

Nice GH, 2 minutes away from the ghats by foot with very caring and friendly staff. The owners are 2 brothers who will make sure your trip is perfect. They arranged pick-up from and to the airport (I need to point out the driver drove very safely) and boat trip on the river in the morning. Room was a little old overall but ok. Toilet paper and towels were available. Food options are available on the rooftop. I loved taking the breakfast there. Overall a great experience. 100% recommanded.

Don't forget your earplugs as walls are thin :)

Best accommodation in Varanasi

Awesome location close to all the min sights, amazing roof terrace view. The staff were very nice, he organised the boat tour for a reasonable price and also organized a laundry service. We could also leave our bags at the house on the last day as we only left town in the evening. Also good water pressure and warm water.

Windows to the room are a bit transparent and poor sound isolation. The room was small. But I would still say it’s the best accommodation in varanasi

Wonderful !

J'ai adoré l'accueil hyper chaleureux de Shiva, Kailash et toute la famille. Ils sont tous au petit soin avec tout le monde pour que tout se passe au mieux. J'ai été malade en début de séjour et je recommande vivement aux voyageurs et voyageuses solo de séjourner au Shiva guest House notamment pour avoir quelqu'un sur qui compter en cas de problème. Sans le soutien et l'aide de toute la famille, mon séjour aurait probablement été écourté par un rapatriement. Grâce à eux, j'ai pu me remettre sur pieds et profiter pleinement de mes vacances. Shiva et Kailash sont aussi d'excellents conseils pour visiter la ville. Leurs petits plats sont délicieux et adaptés aux palais sensibles ;) Les chambres sont joliment décorées et très confortables avec une belle lumière grâce aux peintures et rideaux colorés. L'hôtel est parfaitement situé au cœur du chowk et j'ai de très beaux souvenirs des repas sur le rooftop avec vue sur le Gange. J'ai passé un merveilleux séjour de près de 3 semaines au Shiva guest House !

Tout était parfait et même mieux !

The location is convenient for train station but it is a Very dirty hotel.infeed and not well maotained or with adequate security. We rejected the non AC room we booked because it was so dirty with small cockroaches on the floor and paid 350 ruipees extra for a slightly cleaner AC room Staff woke us with agressive door knocking up ar 2 am to apparently check if we wanted them to adjust AC. The hotel does not leave AC remote in the room. Many better options nearby at similar price in very similar location. So steer clear of this hotel !

The room was a good size. This is a family-run hotel. Family is both friendly and helpful. You can get water bottles there and they offer a good-priced laundry service. The only downside was the wifi which was often unavailable - but that could be due to the area rather than the hotel. Hotel is also very close to the Ghat. Literally a one minute walk and you can bathe in Ganga.

The first 3 nights they didn’t have the room Thst i booked free and they give me a splendid doble room, the man at the reception is very nice, location is soo good

1st thing is the location even though it is showing near to the temple but it is aleast 800 mtrs & the path is also not comfy.No tv.No food

Must stay to experience Varanasi properly!

Excellent! And bang smack on the ghats.

cosy, if small, room excellent location (right on the ghats) staff went above and beyond helping us with luggage and transport (can’t thank them enough) .. they even tried to retrieve my journal that the pesky monkeys stole!)

Small room with no window (admittedly it was a budget room but suggest you upgrade if you’re claustrophobic) Be aware if you’re carrying heavy backpacks … it’s a 10 mins walk from where taxis/tuktuks will drop you but in the searing midday heat it was a hike!

Pocket friend best stay

The staffs are really nice and helping; the food in the rooftop restaurant is freshly made by the staffs always. Near to Munshi ghat and Ganga arati. Some rooms have Ganga view too

The only difficulty is to reach to the guest house after the tours as presently no cars enter after a certain proximity

The master of the guesthouse is so nice and tried to make our stay comfortable as much as he can. Also he speaks Japane

The room was decorated in exotic taste. Need to go up many steps but you can enjoy panoramic view on the roof top.

The door of the restroom was broken but no problem.

By far, this was our favorite stay in India!

Thoughtfully decorated with a warm ambiance, the room was a clean, cozy refuge from the hustle and bustle of Varanasi. With a wonderful sense of humor and a wealth of local knowledge, the incredibly friendly owner and his family went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and gave us spot-on recommendations for restaurant and street food gems. We wished we could have planned to stay a bit longer, as it was without a doubt, our favorite stay in India. Highly recommended! Thanks again for everything, Shiva Guest House!!

Shiva, Great Value in the Heart of the Ghats.

The people are fabulous. I might be biased as I've stayed at Shiva 4 or 5 times since the early 90s.

During our stay at Shiva guest house, we loved how the staff treated us since the very beginning. They were helpful at all times and offer to guide us with anything we could struggle with during our journey in india. The house was a classic indian building, very cozy and welcoming. Location was perfect.

I like this place near the Munshi Ghat and Dashmesh Ghat. Very near to temple. Mera sharir yaha hai par dil Mera Kashi me chut gya hai. HAR HAR SHAMBHU

It's a nice place near Munshi Ghat Varanasi and owner is also good person with well mannered, cooperative. Therefore, I recommend everyone to stay there.
