Great location, close to train , shops and food.
We didn’t dislike anything, was a good quality, budget hotel. If you are looking for luxury this is not it, but it is good value for money. Breakfast was good and had everything we needed. If you are super tall, bathrooms might be a little tricky, I am 160cm and could touch the ceiling easily.

The location is right next to the Watanabe-dori, give or take the main street in Fukuoka. A few minutes walk to the first Yatai, and close to Yakuin train and Watanabe-dori metro stations, and about at most 15 minutes walk to Tenjin station. Also walkable to Canal City and if you wish Hakata station. The hotel has a classy ambiance and a nice triple room.
The room had that persistent lingering past smokers smell. The bath could use some caulking to isolate the wall from water leaking there. Not complaint worthy for us though.

The location was excellent, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were fantastic, always kept clean, and we absolutely loved the view from the 13th floor.
Staying at Hotel Monterey was a highlight of our time in Japan, and a truly enjoyable experience from start to finish. We will definitely be back—100%.
