The room was clean and had a nice view. The breakfast and packed lunch was also good.
The internet very rarely worked. That became even more of an issue because of how isolated the hotel is. While it is 2km out of the city, it is not near any other restaurant, bar or kiosk. Packs of dogs also follow you the whole walk to and from the hotel. There are are otherwise no shuttles or ubers available to travel to and from the hotel. You need a car if you are staying here.
The reception staff also gave wrong and inconsistent advice to us on several occasions and were not very helpful.
The most important example of this was when we asked different reception staff, two days apart, whether the water at the hotel was safe to drink. The first staff member said it was absolutely safe. The second staff member said it was ‘technically’ safe but it can make people dizzy so in practice it’s better not to drink it. We then needed to buy water bottles, which were expensive, from the hotel.
Separately, because the hotel wifi internet did not work, we had to ask reception how we could book a transfer to the airport. Reception said they would organise this for us with one of their third party providers. We provided our flight details, were told the price and that we could be picked up from the hotel to be transported to the airport. At 8pm the night before we were due to leave, reception then told us that the airport transfer is only from the bus terminal in the city. We were told this was the only way to travel to the airport and that we should not use a taxi because it is extremely expensive. Reception did not offer to organise alternative transport. We were expected to walk at 3am, with all our luggage, from the hotel to the city bus terminal. Miraculously, the internet was working at the hotel when we were told this and, after contacting the first driver in a google search, he agreed to pick us up from the hotel to the airport (cheaper than the bus).
The walls and doors are very thin. You can hear people in the adjoining rooms, bathrooms and hallways.
